Job Title: Jumbo Operator / Trainer
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Assist and direct the completion of pre and post-operational checks on Jumbo Drill Rigs and drill sites in accordance with procedures.
- Provide onsite technical training and guidance to national employees to drill support holes and install welded mesh
- Provide support and guidance in drilling and bolting of incline and mass excavation
- Provide support and guidance in setting up and operating drills and drilling machines to produce a designed pattern of blasting holes
- Assist in assessing ground conditions at the face and implementing ground control as needed.
- Comply with the minerals and mining (health, safety, and technician) rules, 2012 LI 2182, and other relevant statutory requirements for underground operations
- Ensure that all equipment is adequately supplied with operating supplies throughout the shift
- Teach national personnel how to read and follow mining instruction plans with accuracy and precision, ensuring holes are drilled to design line, gradient, and profile.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Must have a minimum of WASSCE and 8 to 12 years of Frontline Jumbo, Sandvik experience.
- Previous experience working in hard rock underground mines (with international underground mining experience).
- Must have strong work ethics and be able to communicate courteously with coworkers
- Must be able to read and understand designed ground support plans
- Must have a Blast certificate of competency
- Ability to work with others in a multicultural environment
- Ability to work autonomously, and independently with limited supervision
- A strong focus on safety and hazard
- Ability to work under pressure and have the desire to achieve
