Role: SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT & QUALITY OFFICER

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality Officer (SHEQ Officer) is largely responsible for ensuring that the company’s procedures adhere to legislative legislation, industry-specific recommendations, and the requirements of applicable ISO standards. The incumbent will also be responsible for ensuring that the company’s operations always meet the criteria of the OHSE and quality management systems. He or she will monitor and assess the effectiveness of processes, policies, procedures, and initiatives.

FUNCTIONAL DUTY AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • ​Comply with all company processes and procedures, as well as national HSEQ policies and requirements.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Create and manage quality and safety documentation, such as standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality manuals, checklists, and inspection reports.
  • Act as a document control officer for a certain type of manual document.

Auditing, Monitoring, and Reporting

  • TAGG’s internal audit team will conduct audits of the OHSE MS and QMS.
  • Monitoring compliance with company service level agreements, including OHSE and quality requirements.
  • Monitoring personnel and contractors’ compliance with OHS&E legislation, guidelines, and standards.
  • Monitor and report on the status of incident investigations, nonconformities, dangers, quality, OHSE targets, etc.
  • Inspecting TAGG facilities, TAG-controlled locations, and other workplaces and reporting on the findings.
  • Conduct compliance audits on the application of specific firm processes, procedures, initiatives, and policies.
  • Monitoring the storage, transportation, and disposal of rubbish generated by firm activities to guarantee compliance with environmental and corporate standards.
  • Auditing and reporting on the effectiveness of remedial actions taken to rectify incidents and nonconformances.
  • Verifying the completion of activities to resolve reported hazards, process risks, nonconformances, and so on.
  • Monitoring the control, use, and storage of hazardous materials utilized in TAGGL’s operations.

Communication and sensitization

  • Communicate quality and HSE issues and trends to key stakeholders, and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Researching and creating resources to educate employees on various OHSE and quality issues.
  • Raising SHEQ awareness through various communication channels, including posters, emails, notifications, and social media, and providing training and development opportunities.
  • Provide or initiate OHS&E induction and training for all categories of staff, visitors, and contractors.

Facilitating SHEQ Trainings

  • Ensure that personnel are aware of and follow quality-related policies and procedures.
  • Conducting risk assessments and monitoring the company’s control implementation.
  • Take responsibility for all areas of quality improvement, including the implementation of opportunities for improvement and change management, so that senior and middle managers can focus on the impact of quality improvement measures.
  • Assisting with incident investigations and tracking the execution of corrective actions
  • Collect and analyze quality data to create reports and metrics on quality performance.
  • Keep up with industry developments, legislation, and best practices for quality management.
  • Assisting the SHEQ manager with any other tasks connected to the company’s management systems for health, safety, environment, and quality.

Required Skill or Experience

  • Qualifications include a BSc/BA in Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related profession, as well as OHSE and quality certifications
  • At least two years of post-national service experience in occupational health and safety and quality management.
  • Technical skills necessary for understanding operations in an engineering company
  • Experience in internal auditing will be beneficial.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities.

  • Judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Detailed understanding of legislation (e.g., OSHA/EPA) and processes
  • Understanding of potentially dangerous items or activities.
  • Experience in data analysis and reporting statistics
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office. A working understanding of safety management information systems is advantageous.
  • Excellent organizing skills.
  • Diligent, with remarkable attention to detail.
  • Data analysis.
