POSITION: Law Enforcement Liaison – Kumasi

IJM Ghana collaborates with Ghanaian government entities to combat human trafficking by rescuing victims, holding offenders accountable, restoring survivors to safety and empowerment, and assisting public justice officials to enhance systems that safeguard the vulnerable.

The Requirement 

For 25 years, IJM has led efforts to safeguard at-risk individuals from violence. As we aim to broaden our influence to safeguard 500 million people from violence by 2030, we are looking for a law enforcement liaison to build community-level connections in project regions; offer technical and logistical assistance to law enforcement personnel in case identification and during the entire case life cycle; aid in creating and executing training modules for law enforcement personnel; and support multi-disciplinary collaboration between police, the Department of Social Welfare, and State Attorneys. This role necessitates regular travel to various areas in Ghana.

This role is located in Kumasi, Ghana, and reports to the Snr. Manager of Kumasi Projects.

Duties

  • Connect and establish collaborations with essential government representatives, in accordance with the Organisation’s strategic goals;
  • Acquire a deep understanding of the operational methods of human trafficking within the project region;
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of applicable laws and legal processes concerning human trafficking and related case types;
  • Ensure that all details about potential cases and other sensitive information are kept completely confidential.
  • Produce and deliver thorough and prompt reports;
  • Finish finance training, generate and manage requisitions, expense reports, and other finance-related tasks, and submit them promptly;
  • Enter field data, training occurrences, and meetings into IJM’s Internal Systems – JDS;
  • Acquire a comprehensive understanding of operational recruitment, training, and administration.
  • Aid relevant authorities in the documentation, collection, and preservation of evidence;
  • Offer technical advice and support to governmental bodies involved in human trafficking and associated cases;
  • Assistance in creating training programs and associated materials to address recognized training requirements;
  • Aid in the execution, oversight, and assessment of strategies and optimal practices for successful collaboration with governmental partners;
  • Guarantee adherence to all IJM governmental and donor regulations; and
  • Join IJM’s community focused on spiritual development.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant area is desirable;
  • Preferred is at least two to three years of experience in carrying out criminal investigations, law enforcement, or similar experience.
  • Skill in speaking and writing English;
  • Proficiency in Twi, beneficial;
  • Capacity to communicate information clearly and precisely;
  • Outstanding presentation abilities;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and computer literacy are preferred; and
  • Authorized and capable of operating a four-wheeled motor vehicle.
