ROLE: Project Manager (SCORE ECD III Project)

CRS works in more than 100 countries to save, protect, and change the lives of people in need, no matter their race, religion, or nationality. CRS helps with relief and development through programs that deal with HIV, health, agriculture, education, microfinance, and building peace.

Summary of the Job

The Project Manager will be in charge of the programming for the SCORE ECD III Ghana Country Program. They will design and carry out projects that help CRS do more to help the poor and vulnerable. Your management skills and knowledge will make sure that CP puts out high-quality programming and keeps working to make its programming more effective.

The Project Manager – Early Childhood Development will work closely with the National Association of Religious Women, Ghana, our Local Implementing Partners, to coordinate and oversee the development and implementation of SCORE ECD III, with a focus on Sisters working with children ages 0–5 and with health challenges. All planning and implementation will be done closely with the Association of Sisterhoods of Ghana (AOSG) in order to make Sister Congregations’ organizations last longer.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Manage and carry out all activities during the project design, start-up, implementation, and close-out phases to make sure that the project is carried out in an efficient and effective way that meets CRS program quality standards, donor requirements, and best practices.
  • Make sure that the project team and partner staff use the right tools and systems.
  • Manage talent well and keep an eye on team members. Take care of the staff and how the team works together. Provide coaching, customize individual development plans strategically, help hire project staff, and do performance management for people you manage directly.
  • Help the project staff and partner teams learn. Follow MEAL’s rules and policies when analyzing and judging project performance data. Find problems and concerns ahead of time and use participatory processes to get around implementation problems.
  • Act as a key resource for project design and proposal development in the respective programming area, filling in gaps and taking on growth responsibilities as needed.
  • Coordinate the identification of staff capacity and technical assistance needs of partner organizations and capacity strengthening and required interventions to support quality project implementation.
  • Help find, evaluate, and strengthen Early Childhood Development-related partnerships by using the right concepts, tools, and approaches for partnerships.
  • Coordinate and keep track of the money and materials needed for the project. Make sure that project resources are used well by planning and keeping an eye on things.
  • Required Languages: It’s best if you can speak and write English well.

Travel: The person who gets the job must be willing and able to go to project sites up to 15% of the time.

Skills, knowledge, and abilities

  • Strong critical thinking skills, the ability to come up with creative solutions to problems, and the ability to make good decisions.
  • Strong skills for managing relationships and the ability to work well with groups from different cultures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to write reports.
  • Proactive, focused on results, and focused on service

Ideal Qualifications

  • It is very helpful to have project management experience in Early Childhood Development, Education, Social Work, or a similar field.
  • Try working with organizations that are partners.
  • Experience is an important part of making technical proposals.
  • Skills and experience with MEAL are preferred.
  • Experience with MS Windows and MS Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), Web
  • Conferencing Applications, and information management systems.
