POSITION: Risk Manager

We aim to deliver accountable financial services at the bottom of the pyramid. BGSL is a subsidiary of BRAC International Holdings B.V. (BIHBV), which works in seven African and Asian countries.
PURPOSE
The goal of this function is to assist the Chief Risk Officer in ensuring that all risks are recognized, appropriately assessed, and measured and that adequate plans and procedures are in place to minimize the risks to an acceptable level.
Responsibilities
- Analyzing inflation patterns, market developments, and investment trends to align BGSL’s activities with best practices and relevant frameworks.
- Computation and analysis of several credit risk criteria resulted in the creation of a
- Management Risk Committee report for decision-making.
- Monthly risk and control self-assessments, suspicious transactions, and incident reports, as well as other data, are collected to aid in the creation of risk reports.
- Prepare risk review input for branches/service points and departments for monitoring, implementation, and follow-up with risk owners.
- Market trends are monitored to determine market risk, interest rate risk, foreign exchange risk, and national risk to construct the BGSL risk profile.
- Calculation of branch deposit concentration and compilation of the Deposit Analysis report to ensure ongoing monitoring of BGSL’s deposit structure.
- Conducting independent assessments and spot checks in branches and head offices to examine the effectiveness of policies and procedures, as well as identifying vulnerabilities and gaps for process flow improvement.
- Review and update project risk tools and registries for identifying uncertainties, analysis, and prioritization. Risks include project process flow mapping and risk assessment for ongoing improvement and monitoring.
- Conducting a business impact and risk evaluation of the various business areas to ensure business continuity in the event of an interruption or tragedy.
- Participating in the Enterprise Risk Assessment to improve internal controls for business units, incident management, and reduce business surprises.
- Proactively conduct a review of organizational rules and procedures in response to BGSL’s shifting risk profile.
- Update risk registration with internal loss database, external loss database, and new market development register.
- Any other obligations delegated by the Chief Risk Officer.
Safeguarding responsibilities
- Implement the safeguarding policy to foster a culture of safety at all levels of the programme. Serve as a primary source of assistance, guidance, and expertise on safeguarding to create a safe workplace.
- Responsible for ensuring that team members receive adequate training, support, and access to resources about issues detected and addressed under the safeguarding policy and procedure.
- Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in the event of a reportable occurrence, and encourage others to do the same.
Required Skill or Experience
EXPERIENCE (Including Sector/Industry)
- A minimum of five years of relevant work experience, ideally in risk management, internal auditing, compliance, operations, or credit functions.
- The Chartered Institute of Bankers qualification is preferred.
- Deep awareness of risk disciplines and the regulatory landscape.

SPECIFIC EDUCATION/PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION
- Chartered Institute of Bankers/Auditors qualification is suggested for those with a degree, master’s concentration, or major.
