POSITION: Management Accountant

Organization Overview 

HPW Fresh and Dry Ltd is a company that processes fruit. HPW is associated with freshly harvested fruits and crisp, crunchy vegetables sourced from Africa and Asia. We create independent products for our clients that fulfill the highest quality requirements and provide optimal availability – for wholesalers, retailers, and the food sector.

Position Overview 

  • Reports Straight To: MD-HPW Ghana & Chief Financial Officer- HPW AG
  • Work Location: HPW F&D Ghana

Job Purpose

To assess and enhance the company’s financial performance via cost analysis, working capital oversight, financial statement assessment, and investment evaluation by guaranteeing precise cost distribution, aiding liquidity and capital planning, and delivering data-informed insights to improve profitability and financial stability.

Main Responsibilities and Tasks

Management of Production Expenses 

  • Perform product costing and variance analysis to monitor cost changes and suggest corrective measures.
  • Establish the best selling prices for different products by analyzing cost structures and market circumstances.
  • Conduct throughput accounting and analyze limiting factors to improve production efficiency and profitability.
  • Assess performance indicators and apply responsibility accounting to maintain accountability throughout departments.
  • Perform make-or-buy evaluation to determine the financial feasibility of sourcing semi-processed dry fruits compared to processing them internally.
  • Assist in the formulation of budgets at both departmental and organizational levels, examining discrepancies and delivering insights for financial forecasting.
  • Compute and oversee Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) to enhance inventory amounts and reduce expenses.
  • Establish and uphold cost management protocols to minimize waste, improve resource distribution, and avoid extra costs.
  • Perform scenario analysis to evaluate the financial implications of different strategic choices and offer recommendations based on data.
  • Recognize financial risks and work together with management to create and execute strategies for mitigating those risks.

Management of Working Capital 

  • Examine working capital effectiveness to enhance cash flow and operational liquidity.
  • Oversee inventory management by calculating Economic Order Quantity (EOQ), setting minimum stock thresholds, and establishing re-order points to guarantee efficient stock control.
  • Manage both debtor and creditor relations, guaranteeing prompt collections and disbursements to sustain a robust cash flow.

Analysis of Financial Statements 

  • Perform a monthly evaluation of the company’s current ratio to determine short-term financial health.
  • Conduct quarterly assessments of the company’s liquidity ratio to evaluate financial stability and the adequacy of cash flow.
  • Examine sales and expense patterns, offering insights to aid in strategic decision-making.
  • Analyze the expense of debt and examine how it affects overall financial results.

Evaluation of Long-term and Short-term Investments 

  • Evaluate capital investment initiatives to guarantee financial feasibility and consistency with corporate goals.
  • Perform capital composition analysis to uphold an ideal capital structure while taking into account the cost of capital theories and leveraging approaches.

Required Skills or Experience

Qualification

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification in Finance or a related area.
  • Having membership in any Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) organization – beneficial advantage
  • High-level expertise in Microsoft Office—Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • At least five (5) years of applicable work experience in a comparable position,
  • Effective report-writing abilities

Technical and Personal Skills 

  • Fluency in French communication and writing – extra benefit
  • Strong commitment to Integrity and Responsibility
  • Capability to operate autonomously and with minimal oversight.
  • Proficient time-management abilities and capability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Capability to function in a dynamic, rapidly changing, and demanding setting.
  • Willingness to travel throughout West Africa
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Skill in accounting software (e.g., Movie Magic Budgeting, QuickBooks, Excel).
  • Outstanding organizational and time management abilities.
  • Focus on specifics and robust analytical skills.
  • Efficient communication and social skills
