POSITION: Senior Inventory Officer

Job Purpose

The incumbent will be in charge of all warehouse and inventory activities, including the delivery and receipt of inbound stock and non-stock products (both international and domestic), as well as the proper storage and internal distribution of these items.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Inventory Management and Control

  • Provide excellent tactical inventory management monitoring for the mine.
  • Ensure accurate inventory counts; order supplies and goods as needed when stock levels are low.
  • Ensure that receipts are received on time, that spares are sent, and that the inventory is accurate.
  • Manage stock counts and reconcile any discrepancies.
  • Ensure that all receiving, storing, and issuance actions adhere to corporate policies and procedures.

Warehouse Operations Management

  • Hold regular toolbox meetings and strictly enforce and adhere to business health, Safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and codes of practice.
  • Manage all warehouse processes, including receiving, material numbering, stacking, storage, and stock issuance, both online and offline.
  • Establish ideal delivery points for end customers through effective distribution channels.
  • Oversee the performance of receiving functions and discrepancy identification at all warehouse sites, as well as the prompt resolution of transactions.
  • Establish, implement, and monitor a parts preservation program that adequately protects inventory items from deterioration caused by insufficient storage and exposure to the elements.
  • Approve write-offs resulting from cycle counts (within his budgetary limitations).
  • Assist in identifying training and knowledge gaps in the warehouse department, and contribute to the implementation of appropriate training solutions.
  • Perform any other related duties and/or assist other parts of the department as assigned by the Supervisor in light of the company’s needs.

Required Skill or Experience

  • Minimum qualifications include a degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related area.
  • Qualified member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply or a comparable professional institute (preferred).

Minimum experience.

  • Seven (7) years of experience in a procurement/supply chain function or an equivalent job in the mining industry or a related setting.
  • Excellent expertise and grasp of Inventory Management and Warehouse Operations in the mining industry.
  • Knowledge (in-depth)
  • Good computer skills in relevant packages.
  • Must be familiar with the Republic of Ghana’s Procurement Act and related requirements, as well as internationally recognized warehouse/inventory standards.
  • Thorough awareness of supply chain practices and procedures.
  • Strong working understanding of any widely recognized ERP software. SAP provides an advantage.
