Head Business Control at AirtelTigo
Job Summary
- The person we choose will become the Head of Business Control in the Finance Department and join our team.
- (S)He will report to the Director of Risk and Business Control and protect the company’s assets by finding inadequate, inefficient, or ineffective internal controls, identifying risks, and suggesting ways to deal with them and make things better.
- (S)He will also make sure that the internal control manual, policies, and procedures, as well as revenue assurance, are all followed to the letter. The Head of Business Control will help all group-related initiatives by acting as a local link between the corporate business control team and the group.
Key Responsibilities
- Be in charge of leading the team to assess risks, review and help make policies and procedures, make sure they are followed, and keep an eye on compliance around them.
- Plans and carries out internal control reviews through peer reviews and other assessments. This is done by understanding the organization’s goals, structure, policies, processes, internal controls, and external regulations, identifying risk areas, and setting the scope and objectives.
- Take the lead in projects that raise awareness about Internal Control in Ghana.
- Checks that all regulations are being followed by making sure that the controls in place cover the risks that the regulators have figured out.
- Lead the Team to evaluate risks and internal controls by finding places where rules aren’t being followed, comparing manual and automated financial processes, and finding process weaknesses, inefficiencies, and operational problems.
- Coordinate Self-Assessment Campaigns and make sure that results are sent out on time.
- Follow up on agreed-upon actions for all audits, including External Audit, Internal Audit findings, and internal reviews like peer reviews and self-assessment in the ICM processes.
- Lead the team to monitor the Internal Control Maturity of the company, as decided by management for all processes.
- Closely watch the internal controls for the following processes: Sales to Collect, Human Resources, Entity Level Controls, and Legal/Regulatory.
- Help the Revenue Assurance team with fraud investigations and keep an eye on communications, training, and education that have to do with fraud.
- Coordinate information needs for the Audit and Risk Committee, internal auditors, and external auditors to help them do their jobs.
- Control requests from the CFO and management that come up out of the blue.
- Ongoing research to learn more about internal control and risk management.
- Make sure the Audit and Risk Committee meets with the CFO every month.
Needed Qualifications and Experience
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or IT. Having a Master’s degree in risk management will be a plus.
- ACCA/CPA part 1 qualification.
- Certified by CISA
- Has more than 5 years of experience, including 3 years in the telecommunications business
- Able to use auditing procedures and control techniques to meet control goals.
- Keeps information secret to protect the organization’s reputation.
- The ability to influence cross-functional teams and build trust with team members, clients, and departments within the company.
- The ability to learn quickly and adjust to new priorities and the changing nature of the business we are in.
- Paying close attention to details and having an analytical mind.
