Tetra Tech International Development is presently taking expressions of interest for a Finance Officer for the USAID-funded WASH-FIN 2 project in Ghana. This role will be based at Accra’s main office.
Job Description/Summary:
The WASH-FIN 2 Ghana Finance Officer is in charge of processing all forms of financial transactions, including data entry, payments, and banking, as well as aiding the Administration and Finance Manager (AFM) in all areas of financial accounting and financial management. The Finance Officer will report to the AFM and assist him or her with various finance-related activities as assigned.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the project’s accounting and financial systems, including assistance in the compilation of spending predictions, cash requirements, requests for funding from the parent business, cash flow management, and expense tracking.
- Assist with banking operations, petty cash, travel expenditure advances, cash handling, and so on, ensuring that cash demands are satisfied on schedule.
- Examine various accounting transactions, such as payroll, final payments, trip claims, and so on, to ensure that disbursements are right and that relevant rules, financial regulations, administrative instructions, and procedures are followed.
- Ensure that disbursements/payments are accurately computed and made in compliance with the WASH-FIN 2 project’s internal rules and policies, as well as Tetra Tech and USAID regulations and procedures.
- Enter all payments and transactions into the QuickBooks System and close monthly accounts in accordance with the parent company’s norms and processes, as well as the monthly closure schedule provided.
- Handle payroll payments, taxes, insurance, and any other payments to local governments for taxes and other purposes in a confidential manner.
- Consult with and reply to Tetra Tech headquarters’ accounting team for everything connected to local accounting: receipts and invoices supporting expenses, unliquidated travel advances, QuickBooks entries, cash management of WASH-FIN 2 offices, monthly reports, and so on.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline is required (relevant experience and another university degree may be substituted).
- Five years of accounting experience is required.
- Previous experience with USAID programs and contractors is preferred.
- Knowledge of QuickBooks accounting software.
- Understands local tax and withholding laws for both domestic and foreign employees.
- Must have a working grasp of English, both written and spoken.
- Strong ethical and professional integrity are essential.
