Mission/ Core purpose of the Job
The Engineer – L1 Support Signalling and Roaming will be a member of the Bayobab technology operation organization team, responsible for addressing or escalating Signalling and Roaming application and infrastructure issues. This applicant will provide Level 1 infrastructure support to the business, doing root cause analysis and recommending improvement plans as needed.

The Engineer – L1 Support Signalling and Roaming will be responsible for detecting, analyzing, and resolving all Roaming and Signalling issues for end customers, with major duties including:
- Proactively monitoring the Signalling and Roaming Service and ensuring key quality indicators are at optimal levels.
- Early detection of any problems or incidents. Impacting the Signaling and Roaming Service
- Handling all client complaints about the Signaling & Roaming service.
- Ensure that all incidents are reported and managed in the ServiceNow ticketing tool throughout their life cycle.
- Provide first-level assistance for all service and infrastructure issues within the agreed-upon SLAs.
- Determine and quantify the impact or operational risk of incidents, malfunctions, or actions on the service.
- Diagnose and root cause analysis of occurrences to drive mitigation.
- Follow the operations escalation matrix and triggers in a timely fashion.
- Coordinate with other technical teams on complicated, multi-domain cases/incidents.
- Proactive communication with stakeholders regarding incidents and planned initiatives.
- Ensure all KPIs and SLAs are met and exceed the target.
- Work productively in a 24/7 shift system.
Role Deliverables
- Ensure that service KPIs and KQIs are on target.
- Ensure that the support service level meets the SLA contract or target.
- Support all troubleshooting for all signaling and roaming services within the specified MTTR.
- Signal network optimization and protection against unlawful and fraudulent traffic.
Job Requirements: Education, Experience, and Competencies.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in an equivalent specialization.
Experience:
- A minimum of three years experience in Roaming/Signaling system support.
- Proficiency with an advanced incident management or ticketing tool, such as ServiceNow.
- Knowledge and practical expertise in the telecoms business.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- It is vital to be an initiator and capable of working autonomously.
Competencies:
- GSM, GPRS, UMTS, and CDMA Core Network System Architecture
- CS/PS Core Signaling Protocols (SS7, SIGTRAN, Diameter, SIP, etc.)
- Networking and TCP/IP protocol stack fundamentals
- Good understanding of Roaming Value-Added Services like NTR, BRG, etc.
- Roaming management principles.
- Knowledge of traffic analysis.
Other:
- Outstanding time management skills, as well as a track record of meeting deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- The ability to comprehend and communicate high-level technical concepts.
- Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
