Summary of the Job
- Part of the Absa Young Africa Works/Business Banking Team and will be the credit expert for nominated Relationship Managers working with a defined portfolio of high-value, complex, and sophisticated customer connections, acting as the link to Credit for approval purposes.
- Use what you know about the customer’s needs to come up with practical and appropriate credit solutions, such as lending structures.
- Give credit applications that are high quality and consistent, and make suggestions.
- Keep track of and control nominated accounts within designated portfolios.
- Keep the credit reporting system, which is different from the core banking system, honest and up-to-date.
- Work closely with other employees in the company to make sure customers are happy and to provide high-quality service.
Job Description
Credit Risk Management
Time split: 65-75%
- Assess a customer’s business by looking at the Business and Credit risks that come with giving the customer the Bank’s goods and services.
- Develop high-quality credit solutions with the goal of getting fast credit approval from Credit teams.
- Be the point of contact for accountants, lawyers, and other professionals for credit management.
- Preparing high-quality credit applications with paper attachments for the Sanctioner to approve (ultimate approval authority).
- In charge of handling the financial information that customers make.
- Monitor and control the quality of the portfolio by using “Condition of Sanction” triggers when possible and in line with internal policies and guidelines. – Discussing trigger events with the Sanctioner if they raise concerns and telling the Relationship Manager at the same time Business Risk
Time split: 25-30%
- Work with Relationship Managers on new and existing credit applications, giving advice on the amount of credit available and consulting with the Credit team as needed.
- Deliver service based on what the business needs, as agreed.
- Work with your coworkers to anticipate, respond to, and try to go above and beyond what customers expect.
- Attend meetings with the Relationship Manager to talk about or solve credit problems with customers.
- Actively help to implement agreed-upon change management initiatives to improve process and quality and lower costs.
- Support and contribute to industry-specific goals set by the Corporate and Credit teams.
Split: 10-15%
Output:
- Develop and keep close working relationships with Relationship Managers and Credit Managers.
Education
Business, Commerce, and Management Studies: Higher Certificates and Advanced National (Vocational) Certificates (Required)
