POSITION: Vice-Chancellor

The Position

The Vice-Chancellor is the University’s Executive Head, answerable to the Governing Council for both academic and administrative tasks. Also, the Vice-Chancellor is responsible for promoting high-quality higher education and providing academic and administrative leadership.

The Vice-Chancellor leads academic development initiatives and implements the University’s strategic plan. The Vice-Chancellor is the Chief Disciplinary Officer of the University, exercising general disciplinary duties over both members of staff and students, according to the University’s statutes and regulations.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Must hold a professional level or equivalent.
  • Must be an internationally recognized scholar capable of motivating and directing staff.
  • Must be able to provide a compelling academic vision to persuade government, industry, and stakeholders to support the university’s cause.
  • Must have the ability to manage and control crisis circumstances.
  • Demonstrates leadership and organizational skills.
  • Maintains discretion and integrity.
  • Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates sobriety, maturity, and a commitment to impartial judgment.
  • Must be able to network and seek funding for research and development. • Must be able to complete a full four-year term before retiring at 65.

Terms of appointment

The full-time appointment must be for four years in the first instance, but the successful applicant is entitled to re-reappointment for a subsequent term not exceeding four years (after performance appraisal).

The position’s salary and working circumstances are quite excellent.
