POSITION: Accountant

Banyan Global is recruiting an Accountant for the anticipated USAID/West Africa Peace through Evaluation, Learning, and Adapting II (PELA II) Activity. The primary role of the Accountant is to prepare and examine financial records. S/he will make sure that records are accurate and that taxes are paid properly and on time. The Accountant will report to and work directly with the Finance and Administration Manager. The position is full-time, based in Accra, Ghana, and contingent on funding. Citizens of West African nations and residents of Ghana are encouraged to apply.

• Firstly, Preparing asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information;
• Secondly, Documenting financial transactions by entering account information;
• Thirdly, Assist in compiling data for bank reconciliations between the home office and field office based off weighted average monthly exchange rate.
• Then, Recommending financial actions by analyzing accounting options;
• Also, Summarizing current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports;
• Moreover, Substantiating financial transactions by auditing documents;
• Additionally, Maintaining accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures;
• Furthermore, Reconciling financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information;
• More so, Securing financial information by completing data base backups.
• Thereafter, Maintaining financial security by following internal controls;
• Besides that, Preparing payments by verifying documentation, requesting disbursements; while maintaining audit ready/complaint records for backup documentation
• Afterwards, Answering accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations;
• Last but not least, Preparing financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends; and
• Finally, Maintaining customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance;
• Five years of professional accounting experience, prior USAID experience preferred;
• Excellent analytical and computer skills, including proficiency in Excel and QuickBooks;
• Outstanding organizational, reporting, data entry, and math skills;
• Attention to detail; and
• Excellent time management skills.
