POSITION: Internal Audit Junior

About this role:

To audit the activities of the Company’s many divisions and organizations to ensure adherence to defined plans, rules, procedures, and best business practices.
As a team leader on audits, you will get direct supervision and ongoing evaluation and monitoring from an Internal Audit Manager, Internal Audit Supervisor, or Team Leader.
In this role, you will do the following tasks under general supervision:

  • Perform tasks that necessitate understanding and implementation of audit principles, techniques, and ideas.
  • Review transactions, documents, records, reports, processes, and procedures, and create audit work papers by recording and summarizing facts.
  • Discuss audit findings with the appropriate operating people to confirm facts and get background information to support conclusions.
  • Assist as needed in summarizing audit findings and preparing formal audit reports.

The scope of assignments can include:

  • Audit the financial and statistical data from the Company’s many departments, divisions, and locations to ensure accuracy.
  • Audit various departments’ actions to ensure conformity with defined plans, policies, procedures, and applicable requirements.
  • Document, evaluate, and test internal controls for financial reporting to guarantee compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002.
  • Implement internal controls to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with company rules, processes, and applicable legislation.
  • Determine asset responsibility through a physical count, inventory evaluations, and confirmations.
  • Audit operational processes, interact with clients, and help them improve the process’s effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with customers to identify constructive and value-added solutions to the concerns presented.
  • Perform or help in the performance of special assignments as required by management.
  • The Institute of Internal Auditors has produced Standards for Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.

Training and Experience:

Knowledge:

  • No previous experience is required for a B.S degree in Accounting, Finance, or Administration.

Experience:

  • Two years of experience in a similar field.
  • Work experience in a mining company or related business is advantageous.
  • A good understanding of accounting or auditing may be advantageous.

Skills and Ability:

  • Effective communication.

Working Conditions:

This position is located in the Accra hub.
