POSITION: Health Projects Manager
About the position:
Women’s Health to Wealth (WHW), in collaboration with Americares, will increase efforts to keep adolescent girls in school by preventing unintended pregnancies; implement maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH) programs; expand access to medicine; and strengthen supply chain systems in Ghana’s Ashanti and Bono regions. WHW will expand girl clubs to reach 4,500 girls in 50 schools in order to lower school dropout rates in junior high schools.
The clubs will educate girls with information on adolescent sexual and reproductive health (ASRH) to boost their knowledge, resources, and self-efficacy, as well as the resources and assistance they need to complete basic schooling. WHW/Americares intends to minimize infant mortality in 50 health facilities by providing providers with neonatal resuscitation equipment, knowledge, and skills.
The project will improve essential newborn care (ENC) by providing clean birth kits and technical assistance. It will address screening gaps and commodity shortages in antenatal care (ANC) for expectant women in order to assist in preventing bad pregnancy outcomes. Pregnant women will receive crucial regular screening and preventative care with point-of-care diagnostic supplies, iron/folic acid supplements, and technical support/training on ANC screening/counseling.
WHW is looking for a Health Projects Manager to work closely with the WHW Executive Director, the Americares Africa and Middle East team, and the rest of the WHW team. They will serve a 12-month term and will be in charge of all project health components.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Overall responsibility for the project’s health components.
- Facilitate work plan implementation by managing schedules and activities to ensure that milestones are met on time.
- Support the creation of tools and the delivery of health-related training.
- Establish and strengthen a positive working connection between WHW and leadership at the Regional Health Directorate, District Health Directorates, and health facilities involved in the project (where available).
- Liaison between Women’s Health to Wealth and District/Municipal Health to ensure that project requests, updates, and all other pertinent information are provided.
- Assist the health coordinator and regional/district health staff in planning and executing health training and supervision visits, as well as mentoring WHW, regional/district staff, and health facility employees as needed during visits.
- Lead, direct, appraise, and oversee project health workers. Ensure that internal and external reports on health activities are generated and distributed on time.
- Coordinate health activities and health commodities procurement with Americares headquarters employees.
Experience Required
- Clinical degree (medical doctor, midwife, nurse, or other relevant clinical degree) or master’s degree in medical science or another discipline related to RMNCH program implementation
- A minimum of 5 years of clinical practice experience is required, including proficiency in important maternal and newborn clinical skills such as neonatal resuscitation and fundamental infant care, and/or A minimum of 5 years experience implementing RMNCH and ASRH public health initiatives or projects with growing management or leadership responsibilities is required.
- Experience and skills in project cycle management, including assessment and planning, budget management, monitoring, and evaluation
- Experience implementing and managing RMNCH and ASRH public health programs or projects is required.
- Capability to manage, organize, prepare, and generate data in order to make decisions
- Experience writing reports and presenting findings.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities; ability to form alliances across sectors and cultures.
- The ability to work both alone and as part of a team, with a balanced emphasis on personal accountability and collective goals.
- Excellent organizing abilities and attention to detail.
- Excellent writing abilities and donor report writing experience.
- Office 365 proficiency, includes Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
