Job Description

  • Reports to the Board of Directors of Agave Rural Bank Plc. (AgRB).
  • Mandate: Deliver strategic and operational leadership to AgRB.

Role Summary

The CEO will be in charge of AgRB’s overall strategic and operational responsibilities, including administering, managing, and directing the bank’s affairs in accordance with the Board of Directors’ policies and control. He or she will ensure the bank’s profitability and sustainability, within the risk limits established by the board and regulator by providing superior returns to all stakeholders, responsibly managing the bank’s capital and earnings, and ensuring sound operational and HR practices with efficient service delivery to all Bank clients.

Duties

Leadership & Management

  • Provide strategic leadership and guidance for the implementation of the bank’s strategic plans in accordance with the direction established by the Board of Directors.
  • Collaborate with, maintain, actively engage, and support a robust and effective Board of Directors.
  • Achieve growth in business levels, targets, and other key performance indicators in accordance with the bank’s strategic objectives.
  • Provide oversight for the management team. Seek to strengthen management’s professional effectiveness by conveying current value initiatives and objectives, assigning accountability, planning, and assessing performance.
  • Own and drive. Compliance with all regulatory and financial frameworks applicable to the functioning of AgRB.
  • Serve as the liaison between the Bank and its external partners, clients, and agencies.
  • Build and maintain excellent working connections with important stakeholders.
  • Promote and effectively promote the bank’s programs and accomplishments.
  • Capable of representing the Bank at official occasions and meetings.

Quality Management

  • Assume overall responsibility for implementing the quality management systems outlined in the strategic plan.
  • Promote recognized quality standards and give recommendations for future improvements.
  • Monitor general operations, products, rivals, strategies, costs, and other operational risks to ensure that the Bank’s activities are in line with the Board’s approved business strategy, risk appetite, and policies.
  • Build, protect, and increase the Bank’s brand value and visibility.

Professional Development for Management and Staff

At AgRB, we hire, lead, coach, develop, and retain extraordinary talent.
Promote the strategic plan’s requirements for all parts of management and staff training.
Research & Development
Initiate and direct appropriate evaluative research initiatives. Drive the development of new and innovative products.
Direct modernization of the bank by installing new operating systems, computerized processing systems, and business growth processes.

Required Skill or Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an authorized University, preferably in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or similar field.
  • Advanced degrees or certifications are strongly preferred.
  • Full membership in the ACIB will be advantageous.
  • 10 years or more of relevant professional experience, or a proven track record of achievement in finance, banking, or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of Ghana’s banking industry, including rural banking
  • Proven management experience or the ability to lead a diversified team in a financial business.
  • Proven ability to effectively complete and surpass expectations in relation to the duties mentioned above.
