A reputable non-bank financial institution is seeking to recruit suitably qualified persons for the following positions: HEAD, FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING

Job Description

• JOB TITLE: HEAD, FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING
• GRADE: ASSISTANT MANAGER
• REPORTS TO: HEAD OF FINANCE

Key Responsibilities

Successful applicants will perform the duties below:

• Firstly, will be responsible for Head office payroll and the relevant statutory deductions
• Secondly, prepares payroll summaries and post monthly journals into the Sun system.
• Thirdly, update monthly staff loans and other salary-related schedules and agree same to the general ledger
• Also, prepare Bank Reconciliation Statements for assigned banks
• Moreso, prepare accounts and update ledgers for Staff Common Fund
• Additionally, prepare a liquidity report for the supervisor’s review
• Besides that, produce a schedule of sundry creditors, accruals, and sundry debtors and agree same to General Ledger.
• Afterward, assist in the management of the company’s investment portfolio and investment income
• Aside from that, assist in the checking of prepared payment vouchers
• Furthermore, assist in the preparation of the final account
• Again, assist in the preparation of the annual budget
• Moreover, assist in the Internal and External Audits of the finance department
• Last but not least, assist in the preparation of quarterly SDR for NIC
• Next, assist in the handling of GOGIP financials
• Lastly, review monthly Bank Reconciliation Statements for assigned banks

Key Managerial Competencies:

Technical Competencies:

• Good knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards
• Ability to research, analyze and write good reports on the investment market
• Excellent computer skills and the use of appropriate accounting and investment software.

Qualification and Experience

• Must be a Chartered Accountant
• Relevant University degree plus a minimum of six (6) years’ work experience including two years in a managerial position or
• Must have a minimum of 3 years of work experience in the insurance industry.
