POSITION: Internal Audit Specialist

GBfoods Africa functions across 24 nations with its Regional office located in Accra, Ghana.

Job Summary

Answering to the Internal Control & Audit Manager, 

The Internal Audit Specialist will generate valuable assessments and suggestions for the Africa Regional and Country Management Teams to improve GBfoods’ governance, risk management, compliance, controls, and audit framework to achieve the company’s strategic goals and transformation agenda.

Main Duties:

  • Assess internal control frameworks, detect enhancement opportunities, and suggest appropriate value-added modifications.
  • Execute the internal control system by providing training to guarantee that employees possess a comprehensive understanding of all internal control rules and standards.
  • Perform routine assessments of internal controls to ensure that divisions, units, and functional areas adhere to set policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Confirm that risk assessment and control systems are established and functioning optimally and effectively.
  • Develop, assess, and/or update internal control descriptions, diagrams, and/or risk assessment matrices.
  • Pinpoint essential business and technology risks along with their mitigation measures.
  • Conduct yearly and continuous risk evaluations based on COSO frameworks.
  • Oversee and confirm the fulfillment of risk, compliance, and audit suggested action plans, evaluating the sufficiency of management responses and corrective measures taken.
  • Aid in creating and overseeing fraud management protocols for the Africa Region (preventive, detective, and response controls), conducting occasional investigations and assessments (as required).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Management, or a similar discipline (an MBA is advantageous).
  • A minimum of six (6) years of professional experience in Internal Controls, Audit, Accounting, Finance, or a related area.
  • Experience in a globally recognized professional accounting firm (Big 4) and/or in the internal control or audit department of a top private sector firm or international organization in Africa is advantageous.
  • A professional qualification in Accounting, Financial Management, or Internal Control and Audit Certification is an advantage.
  • Extensive expertise in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and SAP ERP software.
  • Demonstrated expertise and practical experience in internal control systems, internal audit criteria, and data analysis.
  • Capability to assess different control designs to achieve a balance between effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Familiarity with assessing the fundamental cause, consolidation, and documentation of internal control weaknesses.
  • Deep understanding of the COSO and internal control frameworks.
  • Demonstrated capability as an innovative business partner to essential leaders in facilitating swift expansion.
  • Proactive individual who shows initiative and exhibits a vibrant energy level.
  • Strong project management abilities.
  • Skilled in English. French is extremely advantageous.
  • Lastly, Great flexibility and readiness to travel.
