POSITION: Senior Researcher

Job Summary 

We are calling for skilled candidates to submit their applications for the role of Senior Researcher at our company (www.associatesforchange.org). We especially invite women to submit applications.

Candidates must exhibit their commitment and dedication to enhancing education systems, equity, equality, and social change in Africa; the Senior Researcher ought to be a thought leader with published works in social development and education. AFC has a strong emphasis on research concerning basic education, early learning, gender equality, social inclusion, education during emergencies, and development across the continent. Applicants must be resourceful, flexible, and highly organized to manage teams and perform well in high-pressure situations.

Duties:

  • The Senior Researcher will collaborate closely with the AFC Director and senior management in all aspects of the firm’s current research and consulting efforts.
  • He/She will oversee the administration and technical execution of extensive research and consulting initiatives throughout Africa.
  • Lead research analysis, manage teams, guarantee quality control, and create writing/implementation strategies for intricate multidisciplinary studies.
  • Supervise research fellows and groups to generate high-quality mixed-method research evidence specifically in the fields of education, gender equality, and social development.
  • Guarantee that the organization is releasing articles, working papers, and policy briefs rooted in essential research outcomes from AFC’s ongoing project portfolio in West Africa.

Required Qualifications or Experience

  • Earned a Ph.D. or MPhil from an accredited University in Social Sciences; ideally in education, economics, sociology, development studies, or related areas, with a minimum of 4 to 6 years of research and/or consulting experience.
  • Must show a clear interest in education and social development, coupled with experience in working within underprivileged regions of the continent.
  • Have shown qualitative and quantitative research abilities, project oversight, team leadership, and assessment skills; outstanding presentation, analytical, and writing capabilities.
  • Should possess outstanding leadership, problem-solving, team development, and management abilities.
