POSITION: Deputy Head of Legal and Compliance
Summary of Role
Answering to the Head of Legal and Compliance, the Deputy Head of Legal and Compliance will be tasked with delivering specialized legal advice, ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory standards, handling legal risks, and assisting in the strategic legal direction of the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities
The main responsibilities of the Legal and Compliance Officer are as follows:
- Support the Head of Legal and Compliance in overseeing the legal and compliance department, encompassing strategic planning and execution.
- Offer specialized legal guidance on investment, corporate, commercial, property, financial, employment, and regulatory law.
- Oversee the review, creation, and negotiation of intricate legal agreements such as investment contracts, partnership deals, financing arrangements, and procurement agreements.
- Act on behalf of the organization in top-level negotiations, legal disputes, arbitration, and regulatory matters.
- Oversee legal due diligence procedures and legal assessments to support the organization’s investment and operational efforts.
Qualifications & Experience Required
- At least 7 years of legal experience after qualification, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership position
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from an accredited university and eligibility to practice law in Ghana.
- Advanced degree in law, corporate governance, or similar disciplines (a plus)
- Should be an attorney and part of the Ghana Bar Association
- Experience in legal advisory positions within the investment, finance, or extractive industries is highly sought after.
- Extensive knowledge of Ghanaian legal and regulatory systems, particularly in finance, mining, and investment.
Location: Accra
