POSITION: QEHS Advisor
Job Summary
We are looking for a QEHS Advisor to become part of our Quality, Environment, Health, and Safety Team. The chosen candidate will be responsible for protecting and improving business profitability by effectively managing, developing, and coordinating Quality, Environment, Health, and Safety (QEHS) processes and functions. This position will cater to both internal and external customers in West Africa and is crucial for sustaining and enhancing the QEHS connection between Metso and its clients in the area. The perfect applicant will show expertise in creating Quality Management Systems, handling Customer Complaints, driving Sustainability efforts, implementing Continuous Improvement plans, minimizing Environmental Impact, and managing Health and Safety oversight.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Your duties will encompass the following:
- Assist and guarantee that Metso teams are ‘Prepared to Function’
- Pinpoint system and process deficiencies and opportunities for enhancement.
- Engage in regional activities and oversee local audits (Quality and HSE).
- Engage in or manage environmental evaluations.
- Examination and documentation of essential metrics using the appropriate Group Reporting Tool (HSE leading and lagging indicators, quality system effectiveness)
- Drive QEHS enhancement in local operations (RCA, Performance Monitoring)
- Assist the management of Market Area Africa in implementing Quality and HSE initiatives.
- Implement and monitor pertinent Metso Outotec projects and training programs.
- Make certain the HIRA process is efficient.
- Manage HSE data communication and coordination with authorities when necessary.
- Oversee the execution of all elements of the Group Management System in Africa (related to Quality).
- Coordinate with customer locations regarding QEHS needs and initiatives.
- Assist and supervise the investigative procedure.
- Assist in regional quality initiatives
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area (Environmental Science, Occupational Health, and Safety)
- Pertinent Engineering and/or Quality or Health and Safety Management Certification from an accredited institution.
- At least 5 to 10 years of experience in Mining or Heavy Industry in a comparable position.
- Expertise in creating and maintaining business systems
- Expertise in coordinating various functions/product teams within an organization.
