POSITION: Database Administrator and IT Technician

Position Overview

The School aims to hire a skilled and experienced Database Administrator and IT Technician to assess, design, implement, and sustain the school’s essential information systems; mainly, Toddle, ManageBac, iSAMS, OpenApply, and Sage Accounting. The individual in this role will utilize BI tools to generate and analyze data from these essential systems and offer the main desktop and software-related technical assistance for resolving issues.

In the role of IT technician, the individual will also assist with and manage internal technological devices and resources. This involves installing, setting up, troubleshooting, fixing, and updating all school software and hardware while guaranteeing its optimal functionality. The perfect candidate will have these qualifications, experiences, and skills.

Required Skills or Experience

Education & Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, or a similar discipline.
  • Oracle or SQL certification (ideal).
  • Certifications in BI/Data Analytics (such as Power BI, Tableau, or Apache Spark) are advantageous.
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or Apple Certified Technician (preferable).

Essential Understanding, Skills & Competencies 

At least 4 years of experience in a comparable role or position.

  • Practical experience with data visualization and BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, R, Python, RapidMiner, KNIME, QlikView, Apache Spark, Talend, Splunk, and Excel for effectively analyzing, interpreting, and presenting intricate data insights.
  • Proficiency and expertise in utilizing programming languages such as SQL, Oracle, R, MATLAB, and Python.
  • Expertise in designing databases, developing data models, employing data mining techniques, and implementing segmentation strategies.
  • Familiarity with reporting tools such as business objects, programming languages (JavaScript, XML, or ETL frameworks), and database management.
  • Practical experience and expertise in web development and API integration, including HTML/CSS3, PHP, ASP.NET, Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, jQuery, C#, SQL, and Java to create, build, and sustain scalable web applications and system integration.
  • Superior technical expertise in networking and hardware, encompassing Apple devices, printers, and computers.
