POSITION: Project Engineer (Mechanical)

Position Summary 

The Project Engineer (Mechanical) will oversee all construction tasks associated with the installation and maintenance of mechanical equipment.

He/she will also maintain records and offer solutions for any unforeseen technical issues that may occur.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and analyzing projects
  • Examination and analysis of mechanical designs
  • Oversight of the setup and upkeep of machinery and equipment related to mechanics.
  • Perform inspection and certification of mechanical equipment and materials during construction activities.
  • Accountable for overseeing all mechanical activities including welding tasks, product tank manufacturing and installation, piping construction, NDT operations, and more.
  • Work together with contractors to guarantee compliance with project requirements.
  • Keep precise and current project documentation, encompassing mechanical drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Oversee the mechanical engineering components of projects, guaranteeing consistency with project goals.
  • Perform safety assessments and inspections to guarantee a secure workplace.
  • Create progress reports for project stakeholders.

Required Skills or Experience

Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant (Post NYSC) professional experience as a Mechanical Engineer in the oil & gas sector or a comparable position.
  • Experience as a Mechanical Engineer in an oil and gas or LPG terminal will be a beneficial asset.
  • Being a member of The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and a COREEN certified Mechanical Engineer will be an additional benefit.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Robust quantitative and analytical abilities.
  • Outstanding spoken communication abilities
  • Outstanding mathematical abilities
  • Outstanding negotiation and influence abilities
  • Outstanding abilities in project management
  • Proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, AutoCAD, and additional Mechanical Engineering programs like Smart® 3D, PDMS, PDS, CADWorx, Auto PLANT, AutoCAD Plant, and others.
