POSITION: TRANSPORT OFFICER

Kintampo Health Research Centre (KHRC) is a prominent, Africa-based research facility and one of the three field research centers under the Research and Development Division of the Ghana Health Service. The activities of KHRC impact health policy and practice across Ghana, Africa, and globally. KHRC provides research and training services both nationally and internationally, employing a multidisciplinary team. KHRC is situated in the central region of Ghana.
Position Overview
Eligible candidates are encouraged to submit their applications for the position of transport and logistics officer on a research project at Kintampo Health Research Centre, located in Kintampo North Municipality, Bono-East Region.
Main Duties
- Help coordinate with all department/unit/project leaders, research fellows, and officers to identify transport needs and arrange transportation accordingly.
- Aid in evaluating local transportation assets and facilities.
- Manage the movement of vehicles and various transportation resources.
- Guarantee the proper utilization, upkeep, and servicing of all light vehicles, motorcycles, and generators.
- Maintain up-to-date documents like registration, insurance, vehicle logs, daily inspection reports, and more.
- Guarantee an adequate provision of fuel and oil.
- Oversee fuel requisitions, fuel supplies, and spare parts inventories;
- Generate monthly reports on fuel and vehicle usage, “work orders,” etc.
- Aid in overseeing drivers.
- Ensuring that vehicles receive proper maintenance
- Organizing repairs and regular upkeep
- Making certain that all drivers possess the appropriate and current qualifications
- Carry out additional tasks assigned by KHRC.
Necessary Skills or Experience
Requirements
- A participant of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT)
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics and Transport Management with 5 years of applicable work experience.
Experience
- 5 years of pertinent experience overseeing a transportation department.
- Understanding of transportation techniques.
- Skills in analytical thinking
- Capability to collaborate effectively with others
- Advanced problem-solving abilities
- Excellent focus on specifics.
- Extensive experience in managing fleets.
- Comprehension of the regulations and guidelines that oversee the administration of motorized assets and the procurement of transportation services.
- Active driver’s license and spotless driving history.
- Robust negotiation abilities
- Must possess the ability to “multi-task”
- Experience in inventory management
- Computer skills: Windows operating systems, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel;
- Outstanding judgment ability
