Olam PFB produces and sells a variety of branded packaged food items to customers in several African markets. In the past ten years, the PFB business has developed regional brand and market leadership roles in various consumer categories throughout selected markets in West Africa.
The Packaged Foods Business portfolio presently includes eight main brands that are promoted in over ten markets across South and West Africa. Our research and development teams, collaborating closely with marketing, have enabled us to surprise and please our consumers with distinctive and innovative products. In West Africa, the consumer segments we operate within consist of Tomato Paste, Instant Noodles, Instant Beverages, Biscuits, Confectioneries, Edible Oil, Pasta, and Dairy products.
Position Overview
Olam’s division seeks an enthusiastic self-starter to spearhead sales initiatives in the area. You need to pay attention to detail, possess the capability to establish and pursue ambitious sales goals, and have a solid aptitude for fostering performance-driven cultures in your team. The profile includes establishing goals to reach the region’s top and bottom-line outcomes according to the business plan while adhering to the allocated budget.
You will organize and lead the distribution and coverage goals established for the year while building and maintaining a team focused on high performance. The person in this role would also be responsible for planning and implementing sales promotions and market development actions, ensuring that all new product launches and sales distribution targets are achieved.
Key Responsibilities
Tactical Efficiency
- Robust planning abilities, developing the regional sales strategy in alignment with the organizational distribution segment approach.
- A sharp focus on performance, overseeing ground operations according to plans and goals, and implementing corrective measures when deviations occur.
Operational Efficiency
- Become the focal point of activity, manage and direct sales and distribution efforts in the area.
- You would possess robust market connections, and recognize and report on competitor actions in the area. Devise the required steps to combat them and safeguard your market share.
- Establish solid connections with the distribution channel, collaborate on field needs, and assist distributors.
Organizational Efficiency
- Become the go-to individual, the single source of inspiration and direction for the varied and frequently sizable local teams throughout the country/region.
- Organize and implement product training, team-building initiatives, and foster a strong performance culture in the team.
Requirements
- A talent for selling; figures ought to come naturally to you.
- Strong understanding of the area along with its geography and population characteristics.
- MBA coupled with 3 to 5 years of professional experience after qualification.
- Previous experience in sales and distribution is necessary.
