POSITION: Grant Manager

Position Purpose:

This is a new and exciting role aimed at providing leadership and management for World Vision’s grant-making and management efforts. You will report to the Resource Acquisition Management Manager. As a Grants Manager, your role is essential in building strong relationships with donors and project partners to keep them involved. You will also oversee proposal development, ensure compliance with grant requirements, and maintain effective communication channels regarding grants.

Key Responsibilities:

Resource Acquisition:

  • Identify opportunities for funding from governments, corporations, and foundations.
  • Support daily operations to ensure timely proposal development and address issues in grant performance.
  • Work with team leaders and program heads to create a strategy for acquiring and managing resources.

Building Relationships:

  • Develop good relationships with donors to provide excellent service and retain them for future funding.
  • Oversee the team that manages donor relationships and supports events that showcase our work.

Leadership and Team Management

  • Lead and develop a strong grants team, helping them achieve clear objectives.
  • Oversee daily operations of grant projects, making improvements to ensure they work efficiently.
  • Stay updated on compliance requirements to ensure high-quality grant management.

Donor Reporting and Compliance:

  • Help project managers understand and follow donor regulations and manage project startup and close out processes.
  • Summarize key compliance requirements and support program colleagues with related queries.
  • Ensure all necessary documents are prepared for audits.

Communication and Development:

  • Assist in creating country factsheets and materials for donor visits.
  • Identify training needs and support the development of grant staff’s skills in areas like proposal writing and compliance.

Field Support and Values:

  • Participate in field meetings and visit project sites to support implementation teams.
  • Ensure your work reflects values of participation, sustainability, transparency, and accountability.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Resource Acquisition and Management Manager.
  • This role is vital for enhancing our ability to support vulnerable children and maintain strong connections with our donors.

Necessary Qualifications:

Education/understanding/technical abilities and experience 

  • Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Project Management, Development Studies, or a similar field 
  • 5 years of practical experience in crafting and overseeing proposals for corporate partners and various donors within an international organization; a history of successful proposals.
  • Accountability for overseeing staff along with guiding, assisting, and nurturing a high-achieving team.
  • Overseeing Grant teams to produce a top-notch outcome.
  • Significant hands-on experience of at least five years in program risk-oriented auditing;
  • Experience in challenging/insecure settings and with displaced communities;
  • Solid comprehension of donor guidelines and policies
  • Demonstrated expertise and background in creating reports and proposals while collaborating with various donors;
  • Strong personal organizational abilities, encompassing time management, along with the capability to adhere to deadlines and perform effectively under pressure;
  • Experience in enhancing staff capabilities;
  • Readiness to travel to field offices and operate in challenging conditions as per travel requirements.
  • Proven skill in working with individuals both within and outside his or her own group.

Preferred skills and experience 

  • A strategic and imaginative thinker with demonstrated experience in handling diverse and extensive projects across various geographic settings.
  • Experience in creating and overseeing robust and intricate relationships within programs as part of a centralized function and externally with various stakeholders.
  • Experience in the field of international development
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities;
  • Robust organizational and teamwork abilities;
  • Strong cultural awareness and sensitivity;
  • Capacity and readiness to work/live and remain mobile in challenging situations;
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities in English;
  • Awareness of NGO activities and the intricacies of the humanitarian field;
  • Greater than average proficiency in computer skills, especially in Microsoft Word and Excel;

  • Eagerness to learn and evident commitment to career development
  • Must be a dedicated Christian, capable of rising above denominational differences.
  • The capability to handle multiple tasks in a challenging and intricate setting.
