We want to create and expand markets and develop important investment projects. This strategy involves better understanding countries and sectors, which helps us tackle problems that hinder private sector growth and increases the availability of viable investment projects.
Job Summary
We are looking for a senior economist to help shape our work. This person will be responsible for creating economic reports and various assessments, like country private sector diagnostics and climate development reports. We want someone who is motivated, has good analytical skills, has experience in private sector development policy, and works well in a team. This position is located in Accra, Ghana.
Job Duties
- Conduct economic analysis to support IFC investment projects in Ghana.
- Monitor and analyze economic trends and risks in the region to help guide IFC strategies.
- Provide insights on economic topics and support the creation of policy notes and reports.
- Lead and contribute to country assessments and provide input for broader World Bank Group initiatives.
- Design and support reform projects.
- Encourage knowledge sharing within the IFC.
Requirements:
- Master’s or PhD in economics, international development, public policy, or business/finance, with at least 7 years of experience.
- Commitment to the World Bank Group’s mission.
- Strong analytical skills in macroeconomics.
- Experience in applying economic analysis to support private sector development.
- Understanding of IFC project processes and products.
- Ability to build relationships and represent IFC publicly.
- Knowledge of economic challenges in Central Africa is a plus.
- Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and mentoring abilities.
- Excellent communication skills in English; and French are a plus.
