Ghana Institute of Linguistics, Literacy, and Bible Translation (GILLBT), a Ghanaian Christian non-governmental and mission organization that contributes to the “Great Commission” through language development, literacy, and Bible translation, is seeking applications from mature Christians with a call from God and managerial skills to join their hospitality unit.
GILLBT’s Vision: GILLBT members share a shared purpose to make the Holy Bible, God’s Word, available to everyone in their native language.
GILLBT’s mission is to provide access to the Word of God in the mother tongue to language groups in Ghana and beyond, in collaboration with others, through academic research, Bible translation, Scripture-in-use, literacy, language development, and training.
Job Description
GILLBT is looking for mature Christians with a God-given calling, leadership abilities, and management experience to lead a Bible Translation Organisation in Ghana and beyond.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all activities within GILLBT, including the Organization’s spiritual and strategic corporate orientation, and ensure compliance with all local and international statutory obligations.
- Organize and chair ELT meetings.
- Conduct appraisals for the heads of departments.
- Develop policy ideas conduct our strategic planning for the organization, and ensure that strategic plans are constantly evaluated, updated, and implemented. Also, develop and manage the organization’s annual corporate budget and work plan.
- Lead the resource mobilization (fundraising).
- Attend gatherings of international Bible translation organizations such as Wycliffe Bible Translation, SIL International, and any other international conferences that may be invited.
- Maintain relationships and communication with strategic partners, such as donors, churches, colleges, and government organizations.
- Serve as GILLBT’s representative in all dealings with individual contributors, churches, government bodies, and other institutions around the country.
- Represent GILLBT to partners and stakeholders in Ghana and internationally, including attending worldwide Bible Translation Organization meetings and other international conferences on behalf of GILLBT.
- Lead the implementation of language policy; visit and strengthen language initiatives; and provide leadership in consultant development.
Supervisory roles:
- Directly supervises and reports to the Board of Directors.
- Director roles include Field Programmes, Operations, Advancement, and Finance.
Qualifications & Experience
- Requirements for this position include a Master’s degree, at least 10 years of managerial experience, and the ability to manage people and projects in cross-cultural environments.
- Should be a Bible-believing Christian
- Willingness to live and work in Tamale and Accra.
- Ability to work long hours with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated experience working in the NGO sector, particularly in the Christian context, both locally and globally. Capable of maintaining and developing relationships with GILLBT stakeholders.
- Strong written and oral communication abilities.
