POSITION: Senior Inventory Manager

Job Description

Reports to: Director/Chief Operations Officer

Job Summary

The Senior Inventory Manager oversees our organization’s whole inventory management process, including financial aspects. This position requires a seasoned expert with substantial knowledge of inventory management and financial operations. To achieve the company’s strategic goals, the Senior Inventory Manager will ensure that inventory levels are ideal, financial reporting is correct, and supply chain activities run smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Management:

  • Oversee and manage all inventory levels across numerous locations, ensuring optimal stock levels to fulfill client demand while avoiding surplus.
  • Create and implement inventory management methods to maintain the accuracy of inventory data, such as periodical cycle counts and annual physical inventories.
  • Monitor inventory aging, turnover rates, and obsolescence, and devise methods to reduce waste and maximize asset utilization.

Financial operations:

  • Work with the finance team to guarantee proper inventory assessment, including cost and pricing strategies.
  • Prepare and analyze inventory-related financial data, including as forecasts, budget variances, and cost evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with financial rules and internal inventory management procedures, such as SOX and GAAP adherence.

Supply Chain Optimization:

  • Work closely with the procurement, logistics, and production teams to improve supply chain efficiency and shorten lead times.
  • Establish and maintain good ties with suppliers to ensure constant supply and favourable pricing.
  • Implement and administer inventory management software solutions to ensure proper data entry and tracking.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead, train, and mentor the inventory management team, fostering an environment of continuous improvement and accountability.
  • Establish performance objectives, conduct regular performance reviews, and provide continuous feedback to team members.
  • Encourage cross-departmental collaboration to better match inventory management methods with broader business goals.

Risk Management:

  • Determine potential hazards in inventory management and devise mitigation solutions.
  • Ensure that inventory storage conditions are safe and satisfy industry requirements to avoid loss or damage.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay current on industry developments and best practices for inventory management and finance operations.
  • Propose and implement process innovations to improve efficiency, save costs, and increase accuracy.

Required Skill or Experience

Education

  • A bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, finance, business administration, or a similar discipline.
  • A Master’s degree or professional qualifications (such as CPIM, CSCP, or CMA) are highly valued.

Experience

  • A minimum of 3–5 years of inventory management experience, including at least 3 years in a senior or leadership role.
  • Proven experience in financial management, such as budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and inventory management software.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to comprehend complex data and make strategic decisions.
  • Outstanding leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent organizing skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in financial modeling and analysis.
  • Advanced understanding of Microsoft Excel and other financial and inventory management software.
