POSITION: Haul Truck Operator

About This Role:
This role involves operating a haul truck at Newmont to meet daily operational targets while maintaining safety and control.
In this role, you will
Hauling trucks before and throughout shifts.
- Attend every pre-shift instruction meeting.
- Communicate with and receive instructions from the Mine Operations Shift Supervisor, as well as follows the given instructions and daily haul plan, before beginning duties.
- Know which vehicle has been assigned and where it has to be driven.
- Perform pre-start inspections of the truck and its components, including tires, lights, turn signals, and brakes.
- Inspect the truck cabin to ensure that all switches are operating.
- Use the two-way communication radio to notify the Dispatcher of any discovered truck flaws or concerns.
- Follow the laid-out starting procedures and directions on the truck screen.
- All accidents and events that occur during the shift should be reported and escalated to the Dispatcher/Supervisor immediately.
- Report any potential ore or material spills to the Dispatcher / Supervisor immediately.
- Report any truck problems or servicing requirements to the Supervisor before, during, or after the shift.
- Meet and/or surpass the performance goals specified by management.
- Assist in preparing peers to undertake hauling chores.
- Perform other related tasks as directed by the supervisor.
- Follow truck assignments using the jigsaw panel.
- Material and Ore Haulage
- Use huge haul trucks to move commodities.
- Continue to be in charge of collecting and hauling ore from the loading point to the dumping destination, at the proper site locations.
- Maintain the highest level of productivity by situating for double-sided loading.
- Drive to and from the pit with caution, slowing down and maintaining control.
- Confirm that ore and other materials are hauled in accordance with safety rules.
- Check that the material carried (ore or garbage) is correct (misroute).
- Inform the Dispatcher / Supervisor if there is a material disparity.
Haul Truck Post-Shift Handover
- Communicate and deliver work status updates to the arriving Haul Truck Operator.
- Communicate with the Dispatcher about any hazards encountered so that the incoming
- Operators have enough knowledge to ensure that operations go smoothly.
Stakeholder Management and Engagement
- Communicate with the dispatcher and other haul truck operators via two-way radios and/or on-board computers.
- Ensure that shift work adheres to established legislative norms.
Health and Safety Management
- Follow all applicable safety rules, procedures, and legislation.
- Operate safely and take precautions to minimize wear and tear and/or damage to equipment.
- Work safely and without causing harm to others.
- Inspect work areas to ensure they meet internal Newmont and external regulatory standards.
- Adhere to internal Newmont water management and dewatering guidelines.
- Follow safe dewatering procedures.
- Maintain a strong focus on safety during all operations.
- Provide hands-on support to colleagues during hauling activities to ensure that safe work procedures are followed.
- Attend the daily morning safety meetings.
Your Training, Skills, and Experience Checklist:
Formal qualifications (including professional registrations):
- Senior High School Certificate.
Additional knowledge:
- MINCOM Equipment Competency: License E. General grasp of mining operations.
- General understanding of operating medium- to heavy-duty equipment.
Experience:
- A minimum of 2–3 years of experience working with Code E Vehicles in the mining and heavy industries sectors.
- Experience working in an operational open pit mine is preferable.

The position is located at the Ahafo South mine site.
