POSITION: Brewery Manager

Context/Scope:

GGBL maintains two locations and distributes four types of beverages: stout, lager, RTD, and malt, as well as spirits. The company is Ghana’s largest brewer, accounting for around 75% of the market.

Ghana’s economy is expected to continue growing at a mid to high single-digit rate.

Consumers in this region anticipate high-quality products. There is also a growing middle class that is willing to try new things.

GGBL is undergoing major change, particularly in terms of accountability, quality maintenance standards, supply planning, cost reduction, and efficiency. In accordance with its aims, GGBL will develop its employees and create an atmosphere that attracts and maintains the best talent.

As the Supply function, we will produce high-quality items in a safe environment at cost-effective rates, on schedule, and without faults.

This position is critical to the GGBL Supply Leadership Team and is required for efficient brewery operations.

The post holder will need to develop, support, and implement specific plans to meet standards.

Top Accountabilities

  • Contribute to workplace health and safety requirements. Frequently say and articulate that safety is our top priority. Be a transparent ambassador for safety by always behaving safely and constantly criticizing others’ unsafe methods and conduct, reprimanding when needed. Follow the site’s safety guidelines, as well as the operational protocols for systems and equipment.
  • Set the agenda for the Food Safety and Quality Management System.
  • Provide clear guidance and leadership to the site production team and promote greater performance through competency development and dedication coaching.
  • Develop action plans to deliver defined objectives.
  • Create an atmosphere to increase the value of employee communication and engagement processes.
  • Develop positive ties between Product Supply and the larger business for the betterment of the business.
  • Actively drive training and development of the production team to provide positive business impact. Track performance on essential metrics, priorities, and accountability for improvement.
  • Maintain compliance with quality, health, safety, and risk management requirements.

Qualifications and Experience Required

Skills & Knowledge

  • Experience as HOD in the Supply function.
  • Good Honours Degree in Science or Engineering.
  • Proven experience in the brewery industry.
  • A Dip/MB in Brewing Science and Technology from the IBD will be beneficial.
  • Proven first-line leadership skills.
  • Computer Literate

  • Manage complexity.
