POSITION: Supervisor, Facilities Assistant

Job Description

The candidate will be responsible for assisting in the provision and maintenance of acceptable rental housing facilities for Church single proselyting missionaries, as approved by the mission president. The chosen candidate will be the principal customer and point of contact for all physical facility matters at the mission, and they must be knowledgeable of local standards, rules, and regulations governing leasing, remodeling, furnishing, maintenance, and rental property safety protocols. Manages resources such as employees, contractors, and vendors to carry out mission housing plans. He/she will report functionally to the Mission President and administratively to the Area Missions Facility Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Acquire safe, clean, and affordable rental housing for single proselyting missionaries.
  • Ensure that missionary housing is appropriately equipped and maintained in accordance with mission finishing standards.
  • Ensures that processes for opening and closing flats are followed properly.
  • Maintains an inventory of Church-owned furnishings and assures proper disposal of excess and inoperable appliances and other things.
  • Ensures that flats are frequently inspected for conformity with established mission criteria.
  • Train and support single missionaries to improve their housekeeping abilities.
  • Ensures that safety checks are up-to-date and that all potential safety hazards are identified and addressed as soon as they arise.
  • Creates a file for each apartment and saves copies of all apartment-related documents in the relevant file.
  • Controls housing spending and provides the financial secretary with the information and documentation required to pay housing bills.
  • Collect and update the financial secretary on appropriate taxes and security deposits, as necessary.
  • Create and implement an annual mission operations and maintenance plan.
  • Scope building renovation projects with the help of the assigned project manager.
  • Manages the acquisition, delivery, and installation of new or replacement furniture and appliances through qualified vendors.
  • Secures contractors and vendors while ensuring that work and services match set standards.
  • Develop and sustain effective connections by communicating often with customers, employees, vendors, and contractors.

Qualifications

  • Must be a Church member and deserving of a temple recommendation.
  • Must have a valid driving license in all categories and be able to drive.
  • A bachelor’s degree in facilities management, construction management, business, or a related discipline, plus 5–6 years of experience in facilities management or property management, or an MBA with 3 years of experience in facilities, property management, or a related industry.
  • 4 or more years of experience leading and directing others.
  • Must be adept in computer applications such as Microsoft Office, web-based programs, internet services, and wireless communications.
  • Knowledge of facility and property management, construction methods, business practices, safety, and fire codes.
  • Experience with front-line management skills in a multidisciplinary work setting.
  • Capable of communicating professionally with employees, priesthood leaders, contractors, and vendors.
  • The ability to connect and communicate successfully with missionaries and mission leaders.
  • Technical and hands-on abilities in basic missionary apartment maintenance and repairs, such as electricals, carpentry, plumbing, and masonry, are advantageous.
