POSITION: Project Planner

Job Summary

As a Projects Planner, you will create and monitor project schedules, coordinate resources, and ensure that projects are finished on time and under budget. Your ability to efficiently plan, schedule, and coordinate many tasks will be critical to the success of our initiatives.

You will also work with a variety of stakeholders, such as the project lead, site managers, engineers, and subcontractors, to develop realistic and achievable project plans.

Primary Responsibilities

Project Planning and Coordination:

  • Create detailed project schedules with project management software.
  • Work with the project leader and other stakeholders to identify the project scope, goals, and deliverables.
  • Determine project milestones, tasks, and timelines.
  • Conduct regular site visits and inspections to assess progress and adherence to plans and specifications.

Resource allocation:

  • Work with site managers, engineers, and general foremen to properly distribute resources.
  • Monitor and adjust resource allocations to achieve maximum efficiency.
  • Consider potential resource restrictions and provide solutions.

Risk management:

  • Identify potential risks and problems that could affect project timelines.
  • Create contingency strategies for any delays.
  • Provide regular updates to project stakeholders on risk reduction initiatives.

Communication:

  • Share project schedules and updates with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Attend monthly project meetings to review progress and obstacles.
  • Collaborate with the project lead to resolve any schedule-related difficulties.

Data analysis:

  • Examine project data to find trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide monthly project status reports that highlight key milestones and potential hazards.

Collaboration

  • Work with the engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure project schedules are aligned.
  • Work with subcontractors to coordinate their efforts and incorporate them into the overall project plan.

Continuous improvement:

  • Propose and implement enhancements to planning procedures.
  • Stay current with industry best practices and apply them to project planning.

Project Documentation:

  • Create and maintain correct documentation, such as project reports, timetables, and budgets.

Other Duties

  • Performs any other allied duties as assigned by the Project Lead or his designee.

Qualifications & Experience

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in construction management, project management, or a similar discipline.
  • Proven experience as a Construction Planner.
  • Proficient in project management software and scheduling tools (such as Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Detail-oriented, with the capacity to manage numerous tasks at once.
  • An understanding of construction processes, materials, and methodologies.
  • A Project Management Professional (PMP) qualification will be beneficial.
  • Familiarity with building information modeling (BIM).
  • Experience with large-scale building projects.
