Company Profile

EduSpots, a UK and Ghanaian organization, connects, trains, and equips volunteer community educators to offer transformative literacy and STEM opportunities in ‘Spots’ that focus on female empowerment and environmental action. We are creating community-based changemakers.

Since 2016, we have worked with over 250 local volunteers to help 50 communities develop and operate community-led and owned education spaces called ‘Spots’ and move to our ‘Dream Spot Model’. A global community-led education paradigm with network interaction is being developed.

Our 16-person Ghanaian team works part-time and remotely to create collaborative learning opportunities for over 15,000 students of all ages through our Ignite and Community Leadership in Development (CLEd) Programmes, which include leadership training for our EduLit, EduSTEM, EduKidz, and Ignite Girls clubs and locally designed education projects. Job Description

Reporting to the CEO

As we expand, we need a motivated, analytical, and structured leader and team member to manage EduSpots’ logistical operations.

This critical leadership position in Ghana, which reports directly to the CEO, will manage most of our programs in Ghana and beyond, focusing on quality, sustainability, and reach with a strong understanding of our collaborative and community-driven approach to program delivery. You will supervise the full-time Programme Manager and four regional coordinators, and work closely with the Education & Research Manager and Head of Operations.

We need an efficient and organised team leader who can inspire their reports to lead their areas effectively in line with our organisational goals, has a strong sense of work accountability, and is always looking to improve programme impact through effective systems and data management strategies. You will understand rural communities and embrace our values of community ownership and cost-effectiveness to maximize learners’ benefits from EduSpots’ activities.

The postholder need not manage educational programs, however, it may be helpful. Ideal candidates are versatile, problem-solvers, and able to work in a fast-paced environment and respond quickly to criticism. They will be highly autonomous, self-motivated, able to multitask and produce high-quality outcomes in a remote work environment, and skilled in IT.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • To oversee four regional coordinators and ensure that they provide excellent support and mentorship to Spots for them to accomplish core objectives and deliverables and advance toward our Dream Spot Model.
  • To oversee our Programmes Manager and guarantee the proper delivery of the Catalyse Leadership Programme and Spot Lead strand.
  • Work with the Programmes Manager and regional coordinators to ensure effective Catalyst recruitment, induction, and tracking at both the local and central levels.
  • To cooperate with our Education & Research Manager to ensure that the Ignite Programme is delivered effectively.
  • To direct the Peer Mentoring program, including recruiting, inducting, and training a team of eight Peer Mentors for semi-staff, part-time positions.
  • (Depending on the skill set) Leading monitoring, evaluation, and learning throughout our programmes, as well as programme reporting both internally and externally.
  • Effective oversight of all participant data, in collaboration with the Education & Research Manager, Programmes Manager, strand and regional coordinators, and Head of Operations.
  • Working with the Education and Research Manager, assist in the development of handbooks, materials, and PowerPoint presentations to suit organizational needs as needed.
  • Leading the professional development and appraisal of programme-focused staff team members while also contributing to the overall team’s development.
  • Work with the team to form partnerships with NGOs, corporations, government departments, individuals, and other funders to improve programming implementation.
  • As a member of the leadership team, you will provide strategic insight to the organization’s development and participate in scale-up strategy planning meetings.
  • Additionally, you will assist the organization’s overall work as needed.
  • To always act in keeping with the expectations of staff as outlined in the Staff & Volunteers Handbook, as well as other relevant rules and procedures.

Required Skill or Experience

Knowledge & Experience

  • Strong skills and experience in program development and management, as well as the ability to ensure a large team meets task deadlines and produces high-quality results.
  • An exceptional ability to independently develop methods to increase program delivery quality and volunteer involvement at both the organizational and local levels.
  • Strong people management expertise, including the ability to handle challenging conversations and oversee the performance of diverse teams.
  • Understanding of various monitoring, assessment, and learning methodologies.
  • Experience working online and from home.
  • Strong IT knowledge and capabilities, including exceptional data analytic abilities.
  • Experience collaborating with volunteers to effect change.
  • Experience delivering initiatives in several regions of Ghana, including rural and distant areas.
  • Experience creating high-quality reports on project objectives and deliverables.

Personal Qualities and Skills

  • Excellent team management and leadership skills, with the ability to encourage and inspire employees to enhance performance results and hold them accountable where necessary, with minimal intervention from the CEO.
  • A team player who believes in the benefits of collaborative learning.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of maintaining a high level of performance with minimal supervision.
  • Likely to be an effective facilitator, capable of leading collaborative and inspiring training and professional development sessions for both employees and volunteers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to operate under pressure, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to successfully respond to comments, continually looking for ways to better their own and the organisation’s performance.
  • Flexible, able to respond to change and adapt.
  • The capacity to understand and adhere to agreed-upon international working standards, as well as to encourage high professional standards within their team.

Desirable

Experience working in a multicultural team.
Masters degree in a similar discipline.
Volunteer experience and devotion.
