POSITION: Gender Equity and Social Inclusion Advisor
The Gender Equity and Social Inclusion (GESI) Advisor will oversee the integration and enhancement of GESI activities on an upcoming donor-funded regional initiative in West Africa. S/he will provide advice on gender and social inclusion mainstreaming throughout the project’s implementation. S/he will be in charge of analyzing gender and social inclusion, as well as developing program strategies. The GESI Advisor will be headquartered in Ghana.
Role and Responsibility
- Provide technical leadership in creating the agenda for gender inclusion, policy, implementation, measurement, and reporting.
- Provide technical assistance to a variety of actors in West Africa to incorporate gender into their portfolios in compliance with USAID instructions and policy.
- Design and deliver gender training, including the development or acquisition of resources.
- Ensure compliance with USAID, national, and regional policies for gender and inclusive development, women, peace, and security, strategy development, project design and implementation, and monitoring and evaluation, as appropriate.
- Conduct a baseline GESI study, working with the project team and partners to co-design a GESI strategy that supports gender integration.
- Oversee and contribute to the activities and grant development process to ensure that it is equitable, accessible, and inclusive to minority and women-owned and operated organizations.
- Collaborate with the technical team and possible beneficiaries, partners, and/or grantees to ensure that all programmatic training and technical assistance given by the project exemplify best practices in gender and inclusion
- Contribute to monitoring and evaluation activities focused on GESI, and support the creation and implementation of GESI-related indicators.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social studies, women’s studies, political economy, international development, or a similar discipline; a master’s degree is preferable.
- At least five (5) years of technical experience in donor-funded gender and social inclusion programs; USAID experience desirable.
- Technical knowledge of gendered approaches to P/CVE, peacebuilding, and/or stability.
- Technical experience with women, youth, marginalized groups, and social inclusion in the context of governance, conflict prevention, regional peacebuilding, and resilience
- Experience and knowledge of issues concerning gender integration, mainstreaming, and social inclusion in West Africa.
- Strong analytical, data collection, and community interaction capabilities
- Knowledge and abilities in planning, monitoring, training, organizing, and leading workshops
- English and French fluency is necessary.
