Latest Job Recruitment at CARE Ghana

Company Profile

CARE began activities in Ghana in 1994, educating mining communities about sexual health and the prevention of AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases. CARE Ghana presently collaborates with over 40 partner organizations to implement a portfolio of programs worth around US$9 million per year in 150 districts across the nation, with our main office in Accra and sub-offices in Kumasi, Sunyani, and Tamale. For 30 years, CARE has worked in Ghana to improve lives and promote social justice by addressing the root causes of poverty. Our work focuses on food and nutrition security, as well as social and economic empowerment, with a particular emphasis on women and young people.

Job Description.

CARE International is implementing the Generating Revenues and Opportunities for Women to Improve Nutrition in Ghana (GROWING) project in Ghana as part of a consortium led by the International Potato Center, in collaboration with the Ghana Health Service, the Women in Agriculture Development Directorate, and District Directorates of Agriculture. The initiative is supported by Global Affairs Canada and will run for 4.5 years beginning in March 2022.

The GROWING Project will use an integrated agriculture-nutrition-marketing approach, combined with strong support, to transform women’s agency as well as the enabling environment, including gender norms and roles, attitudes and behaviours, to address key gender inequities and initiate more appropriate practices to ensure more equitable outcomes for women, particularly their nutritional and financial security.

This will be accomplished in part by organizing rural women and men into clubs that will allow for training on growing and consuming more nutritious crops in a more environmentally sustainable manner, as well as interventions to reduce gender disparities in the production, consumption, and marketing of nutritious food. CARE International in Ghana will oversee the implementation of initiatives aimed at improving the enabling environment for women’s empowerment, as well as Village Savings and Loans Associations and Farmer Business Clubs.

The Zonal Project Coordinator, Markets and Agri-Business is responsible for providing technical support and assisting the implementation of project activities related to input and output market linkages, as well as agri-business development, for project community participants.

The incumbent will work in the Tamale Sub-office and report directly to the Project Manager.
