POSITION: Packaging Supervisor

Key Purpose Statement
The team leader packaging’s primary responsibility is to lead the SBU in the execution of the production plan, ensuring that the product satisfies all quality criteria, asset care through autonomous maintenance chores, and the resolution of production issues.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
People’s practices
- Coach team members on how to correctly execute their jobs (both operational and technical).
- Check and guarantee that team members monitor process inputs and outputs to acquire the intended results
- Check and ensure that team members do the necessary quality checks and that the information is recorded in the appropriate systems.
- Develop team members and ensure that training requirements are identified and addressed through one-on-one sessions and performance reviews.
To drive WCM efforts on your shift.
- Responsible for communicating work practice deployment goals and ensuring team buy-in. Provides coaching to team members. Implementation
- Coaches team members to solve situational problems.
- Ensures that team members implement and comply with divisional standards.
- Conducts work practice maturity assessments and/or line walkthroughs for own shift to ensure that best practices are correctly adopted and established.
Operational and Process Control
- Ensure that team members understand and follow operational, quality, and process standards, work instructions and maintenance schedules, work practice rollout strategies, and performance objectives.
- Review and sign off on shift performance (QCDSM) and ensure that all administrative responsibilities in support of the production team are completed.
- Manage the immediate material availability demands.
- Decide on a course of action to overcome production problems that have escalated.
Maintenance of Plant and Equipment
- Check that the team members carry out the appropriate autonomous maintenance tasks and any necessary running repairs on shift, following work instructions and maintenance plans.
- Ensure that the process artisan performs repairs throughout shifts, trains team members on autonomous maintenance activities, and assists maintenance specialists.
- Participates in maintenance planning meetings to identify maintenance issues that require addressing.
- Communicate the maintenance strategy with team members.
- Ensures that the line is prepared for repair and that it restarts on time after maintenance.
Quality Control and Analysis
- Ensure that team members understand and comply with quality standards.
- Verifies that team members do routine quality checks and analyses under work instructions.
- Conduct quality trend analysis to detect problems and decide on the best course of action to remedy them.
- Ensures that problem-solving occurs to identify and correct the root cause of quality concerns.
- Ensures that the required quality information is logged according to schedule (manually and/or electronically).
Communication
- Communicate team goals and conduct regular reviews to ensure team alignment.
- Hold an end-of-shift meeting with the team to discuss production performance, challenges, the scheduled schedule, and task assignments.
- Conduct a handover meeting with the incoming shift team leader. Process performance, quality, production schedule, problems, and issues will all be communicated.

Qualifications
- Minimum requirements include a technical diploma, qualified artisan (N6), and/or a three-year equivalent postsecondary qualification in technical or production.
- Preferably: an engineering degree (mechanical or electrical).
Experience
- Three years of technical and leadership experience in an FMCG context.
Knowledge:
- Understanding of the Manufacturing Way, WCM, and Lean methods and principles.
- Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of packaging processes.
- Microsoft Office talents
- A self-starter with high energy levels.
- Capability to detect gaps and undertake improvement efforts.
- Understanding of SHE Policies and Procedures
- The People Way and the Company’s Labour Relations Practices
Skill and Attributes:
- Proven leadership skills and management capabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – shown ability and credibility to influence at the shop floor level.
