POSITION: Assistant Marketing Manager

JOB SUMMARY

The Marketing Assistant Manager is part of a critical team that develops and implements property-level interactions with our clients. Under the guidance of the Manager of Marketing and Communication, this function promotes on-brand messaging to consumers using traditional, digital, and social media platforms, to improve the hotel’s image.

This function contributes to the development of direct marketing plans, focused campaigns, and activated channels to boost customer knowledge and preference, gain market share, and expand the portfolio and brand recognition. This role helps create strong partnerships with their regional e-commerce and Marketing teams to ensure that all local, social, and digital marketing initiatives are properly linked with the organization’s selling operations.

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

Education & Experience Required:

  • A two-year degree from an approved university in Marketing, Public Relations, Business Administration, or a related subject, as well as two years of experience in sales, marketing, digital, or related professional fields; hospitality marketing or digital advertising expertise is desirable. OR
  • No work experience is required for a four-year bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Business, or a similar field.

Core work activities

Hotel Marketing and Advertising

  • Helps to execute the annual marketing plan on time and within budget.
  • Assists the Operations, Food & Beverage, and Sales teams in executing promotions and campaigns that target in-house guests and generate incremental revenue for the hotel.
  • Collaborates with advertising agencies on tactical advertising campaign creative and media planning, notably for food and beverage promotions.
  • Assists with managing F&B media schedules, email marketing, and display advertising.
  • Stays up to date on the status, performance evaluation, opportunities, and challenges relating to online programs and initiatives.
  • Contributes to ensuring that all hotel advertising on digital platforms is consistent with the brand voice.

Social Media Content Management

  • Facilitates social media participation and content updates on local digital channels (e.g., hotel websites, and travel sites).
  • Helps with promotions campaigns for F&B, weddings, spas, rooms, and conferences via relevant digital and social media channels.
  • Proactively manages online reputation by uncovering pertinent guest remarks (good or bad) on social media sites and responding accordingly.

Public Relations and Visual Asset Management

  • Collaborates with the agency to design a complete public relations plan each quarter.
  • Maintains an extensive roster of local media contracts, focusing on culinary critics and bloggers.
  • Manages assigned accounts using the media account management system.
  • Assists in the creation and dissemination of all press releases for property events, promotions, and outlets.
  • Assists with the execution of hotel-sponsored events, community/government relations, and press promotion initiatives.
  • Assists with the management of external vendors and media agencies; Assists with the review of PR leads from the continent PR Leader to determine which media are best for promoting the hotel.
  • Facilitates the coordination of photography for F&B advertising, collateral, and public relations purposes among the hotel, advertising agency, and regional field marketing teams.
  • Helps with photo shoots for seasonal or holiday promotions in collaboration with the cluster or region marketing team.
  • May operate as a point of contact for regionally recognized local photographers for cuisine, amenity, and property photography.

Direct Marketing and Collateral Development

  • Assists with the coordination and execution of hotel and food and beverage printed items.
  • Maintains control over the number and inventory of all Hotel marketing collateral, ensuring that copies are properly filed.
  • Assists with the creation of all property, food and beverage displays, and temporary signs in hotel public areas.
  • Assists in the execution of F&B direct marketing campaigns.
  • Verifies that all collateral adheres to brand standard rules and is in conformity with the Brand Standard Audit (BSA).

General

  • Assists with the planning, coordination, and implementation of all communications efforts.
  • Assists with the publication of the hotel’s newsletter(s).
  • Provides support for communications activities and functions as needed.
  • Assists with the coordination and implementation of combined F&B campaigns.
  • Collaborates with the Manager of Marketing and Communication to ensure the Hotel’s website and connected websites are regularly updated.
  • Provides marketing support and serves as a marketing subject-matter expert for GMs, Sales Leaders and Managers, and Revenue Leaders.
  • Stays up to date on competitors’ collateral, advertising, and marketing initiatives, as well as the ever-changing digital and marketing landscape.
  • Performs other reasonable job duties as prescribed by the manager.
