POSITION: Mechanical Supervisor 

About This Role:

  • To monitor and coordinate the work done by Process Plant Mechanical Technicians to guarantee that production plans are met.
  • To guarantee that maintenance tasks are completed safely and effectively.

In this role, you will

Health and Safety Management

  • Comply with the Mine regulatory Act and any other applicable regulatory provisions that relate to one’s specific work area.
  • Ensure that all statutory requirements are met.
  • Maintain individual and team compliance with Plant procedures, including MOS.
  • Instruct team members about safe working methods and conduct frequent workplace inspections.
  • Accept personal responsibility for the health and safety of all employees under his or her direction.
  • Hold monthly safety meetings and inspections.
  • Attend the regular safety inspections and meetings.
  • Participate in incident inquiry and share lessons learned from events on other sites.

Mechanical Maintenance Execution

  • Organize, distribute, and coordinate all mechanical works at the process areas’ Area of
  • Responsibility (AOR) and others to support all Process Maintenance activities, including planning.
  • Work with the General Foreman Maintenance Planning to identify mechanical maintenance backlogs, schedule maintenance, allocate resources, and plan equipment shutdowns.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance Technicians to improve Process Plant equipment efficiency and availability.
  • Assist in the development and review of maintenance standard task procedures (STPs).
  • Liaise with the Administrative Coordinator to communicate departmental processes and policies.

Mechanical Maintenance Supervision

  • Oversee mechanical maintenance work in all process areas, including crushing, grinding, CIL, elution, CCD, WSF, TSF, powerhouse, and workshop.
  • Organize shift changeover (PSI) meetings.
  • Assist with mechanical troubleshooting of mills, crushers, agitators, all other plant equipment, and associated accessories.
  • Organize and coordinate daily corrective activities.

Reporting

  • Prepare reports identifying jobs performed for the day and submit them to the General Foreman.
  • Report safety and environmental incidents to Cintellate and assist with investigations.

Staff supervision

  • Supervise contractors as they do mechanical repair work and activities.
  • A job with senior management and other supervisors to track maintenance job completion and when contractors are needed for work.
  • Supervise the team in charge of maintaining the Process Plant and its associated facilities.

Work Schedule and Allocation

Schedule duties for the mechanical repair staff under the drafted plan.
Provide and coordinate support to the team implementing plant modifications so that outcomes are achieved on schedule.

Your Training, Skills, and Experience Checklist

Formal qualifications (including professional registrations):

  • Higher National Diploma of Mechanical Engineering.
  • Inspecting Engineering Certification of Competency

Additional Knowledge

  • Advanced understanding of maintenance principles and industry norms.
  • Advanced mechanical instrumentation knowledge.
  • Advanced understanding of the work management process.
  • Advanced understanding of planning and scheduling.
  • Strong working understanding of maintenance plant equipment.
  • Extensive experience maintaining cone crushers, grinding mills, agitators, conveyors, slurry pumps, gearboxes, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Working knowledge of Ellipse.

Experience

  • A minimum of 4–6 years of expertise in mechanical maintenance at a mining process plant or a similar facility.
  • A minimum of 3–4 years of experience in a supervisory capacity, managing big and diverse teams.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced written and vocal communication abilities, as well as interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced computer literacy skills include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), MS Project, and SAP.
  • Advanced troubleshooting capabilities (RCFA, FMEA)

Working Conditions

The position is located at the Akyem mine site.
