2024 University of Alberta Government of Canada International Scholarships
For people from outside who want to study, conduct research, or advance their careers in Canada temporarily, the Canadian government administers a number of scholarship programs.
Depending on the length and level of study, the Canadian Government Scholarships at the University of Alberta offers scholarships. The scholarship covers the Study in Canada Scholarships, Canada-Asean Scholarships, and Educational Exchanges for Development (SEED) programs. It also includes the Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program.

The purpose of the scholarship program is to assist foreign applicants who want to spend a limited amount of time in Canada studying, conducting research, or developing their careers. These initiatives comprise:
- Undergraduate and graduate students from the Caribbean and South America are enrolled in the Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP).
- Undergraduate and graduate students from ASEAN member countries are eligible to apply for Canada-ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development (SEED).
Canada Study Scholarships
Graduate and undergrad pupils from:
- Asia: Taiwan, Bangladesh, and Nepal
- Turkey and Ukraine are in Europe. Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Libya, Morocco, and Tunisia are in the Middle East and North Africa.
- Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, and Uganda are all countries in sub-Saharan Africa.

Eligibility Requirements
Candidates must fulfill the requirements listed below in order to be considered for the University of Alberta’s Government of Canada International Scholarships for 2024–25:
- An undergraduate applicant requesting a research-based experience must submit a letter of invitation from the University of Alberta professor who has agreed to serve as your supervisor or a documented institutional partnership and student exchange agreement.
- An inter-institutional agreement is preferable but not required for graduate application submissions.
- Student applicants must be enrolled full-time at the time of application in the degree program they choose to pursue.
- Prior to arriving in Canada, recipients must be fluent in the language of instruction at the Canadian institution (either English or French), as language instruction is not covered by the scholarship.
Application Process
How-to-Apply:
Before moving on to look for a host professor or supervisor, interested applicants for the Government of Canada Scholarships 2024/25 at the University of Alberta should make sure they match the eligibility requirements for the scholarship. Send the following information in an email to instructors with whom you might collaborate:
- Your full name and phone number
- Your home nation and university
- Whether you are a graduate (master’s or doctorate) or undergraduate (bachelor’s) student at the moment
- The academic year you are currently enrolled in.
- The complete name of the scholarship program you intend to apply for is number five.
- How long do you want to spend conducting research (4 months, 5-6 months, or 8 months).
- When would you like to start (you must finish by February 1 of each year)?
- Paperwork such as your CV/resume, academic records from your university, and/or a cover letter
- A connection to the host supervisor’s information
Once the candidate has identified a possible host supervisor, they will collaborate with their home institution and the host supervisor at the University of Alberta to collect the necessary supporting documentation, which will then be submitted together with the Electronic Application Form.
