2022/2023 UHAS Admissions for MPhil/MPH/PhD Candidates is Out. The University Of Health And Allied Science, UHAS postgraduate Admission Forms for the 2022/2023 academic year – MPhil/MPH/PhD Candidates have been released.

SCHOOL OF ALLIED HEALTH SCIENCES

MPHIL / PHD PROGRAMMES IN MEDICAL IMAGING Candidates (Ghanaian and International )

1. Firstly, MASTER OF PHILOSOPHY (MPHIL) IN MEDICAL IMAGING

The MPhil programme has two pathways – the two (2) years Full-Time (regular) and the three years Part-Time (sandwich) options. The timeline for the full time (regular) format will be consistent with the academic timetable of the university. For Part-Time Candidates, the first year will consist of two long vacations. Each long vacation period will be equivalent to one semester.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR MPHIL

  • Candidates must hold a first degree (at least 2nd class lower or 2.2 CGPA) in Medical Imaging (Diagnostic/therapy Radiography), Nuclear Medicine or related Medical Imaging area from a recognised University.
  • Candidates must have at least two years of work experience as a diagnostic or therapy radiographer, mammographer, sonographer or other related MI specialities.
  • Two reference statements/letters from professional and/or academic referees
  • Candidates must pass an admission interview

2. Secondly, the DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY (PhD)

The PhD programme is a four (4)-year full-time or six years part-time programme. This is to be conducted in similar formats as the MPhil full time (regular) and part-time (sandwich)]. In the first academic year, candidates will undertake the same taught courses. It is to enable them to identify areas of research interest in MI to conduct their research.

The timeline for the full time (regular) format will be consistent with the academic timetable of the university. For Part-Time Candidates, the first year will consist of two long vacations (June – August). Each long vacation period will be equivalent to one semester.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR PHD

  • Candidates must hold an MPhil or MSc. in Medical Imaging, Therapy Radiography, Nuclear Medicine or related MI area from a recognised University.
  • Candidates must have at least three years of work experience as a diagnostic or therapy radiographer, mammographer, sonographer or other related MI specialities.
  • Two reference statements/letters from professional and/or academic referees.

  • Research proposal (not more than 700 words)

SCHOOL OF BASIC AND BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES

MSC/ MPHIL / PHD PROGRAMMES IN BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES Candidates (Ghanaian and International)

1. First, MASTER OF BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES

ENTRY REQUIREMENT FOR MSC PROGRAMME

  • Candidates must hold a first degree (at least 2nd class lower or 2.0 CGPA) from a recognized university in areas such as Biology, Biomedical Sciences and Health-related degrees such as Allied Health Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine and Nutrition.
  • Two reference statements/letters from professional and/or academic referees.
  • Candidates must pass an admission interview.
  • Candidates with the third class may be considered for admission based on work experience and/or other qualifications

  • Furthermore, the Research proposal (not more than 700 words)
  • Lastly, a Statement of purpose (not more than 500 words)

SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH – HOHOE CAMPUS

MASTER OF PHILOSOPHY (M.Phil.) IN APPLIED EPIDEMIOLOGY (REGULAR) (Ghanaian and International)

1. Firstly, MASTER OF PHILOSOPHY (MPHIL REGULAR) IN APPLIED EPIDEMIOLOGY

Duration of the Programme: The programme will be full time for a period of 24 months

Entry Requirements

  • A good first degree (with a minimum of second-class lower division) in relevant health and health-related field.
  • Candidates with three (3) years of relevant working experience are preferred.
  • All candidates should have a background or interest in Public Health.
  • Candidates will be required to submit their Curriculum Vitae, pass an entrance examination and /or an interview. Also, Candidates may be required to submit a 500-word concept note on their chosen area of interest.
  • Two reference statements/letters from professional and/or academic referees

2. Secondly, MASTER OF PUBLIC HEALTH (MPH) (Ghanaian and International)

MPH Options

  • To begin with, Epidemiology and Disease Control
  • Followed by Health Promotion
  • Also, Health Systems Management
  • Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Nutrition
  • Family and Reproductive Health

Entry Requirements

  • First of all, A good first degree (minimum of second class lower) from a recognized accredited University.
  • Also, Relevant working experience in the health sector will be an advantage. Candidates with high Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) but limited post-qualification experience are particularly encouraged to apply.
  • Moreover, Candidates are required to submit their Curriculum Vitae, and pass an entrance interview.
  • Lastly, Candidates are required to submit a 500-word concept note on their chosen area of interest.

Duration of the Programme: The programme is a Full-Time programme for a period of 12 months.

3. Thirdly, DOCTOR of PHILOSOPHY (PhD in PUBLIC HEALTH) – ONLY FULL-TIME (Ghanaian and International)

Entry Requirements

  • To begin with, Candidates must hold a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.), Master of Public Health, or other Masters degrees in Medical/Health Sciences or equivalent degrees in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
  • Also, two reference statements/letters from professional and/or academic referees.
  • Importantly, a Statement of Purpose from the candidate (not more than 500 words)
  • Furthermore, Candidates will be invited to undergo a rigorous academic interview. This should be after they meet the minimum requirements upon submission of relevant documents.

Duration of the Programme:

The duration of this PhD programme is a minimum of three (3) years for Full-time study

The deadline for completion of the online application form for the Postgraduate Programmes is July 30, 2022.

How to Apply for UHAS Postgraduate Admissions

Before proceeding to apply Candidates must use the UHAS online admission portal to apply.

  1. Initially, make a payment of GH¢ 220.00 (Two Hundred and Twenty Ghana Cedis) for the UHAS E-Voucher at any Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB), Zenith Bank, Agricultural Development Bank (ADB), and Ghana Post Office nearest to you.
  2. Also, the E-Voucher contains the PIN and Serial Number required in completing the online form.

Foreign Candidates Only

Candidates outside Ghana can buy UHAS vouchers electronically using Master and VISA cards. Please kindly click the “Buy Now” button below to purchase the voucher. You will use the voucher to apply for admission. The voucher will be sent to you as soon as payment is successfully made – $130.00

Start Application

Applications are received from both Ghanaian and Foreign Candidates. Foreign Candidates are however advised to contact the National Council for Tertiary Education (NCTE) for a detailed interpretation of their results.

  1. Firstly, the intended admission Picture must be taken on a white background with both ears showing and without shadow in the background.
  2. Secondly, for religious purposes, scarves are allowed but both ears must be exposed in the picture.
  3. Thirdly, wearing glasses/shades are not allowed, except for medical purpose, clear glasses revealing the eyes are permitted.
  4. Lastly, the Picture should have a dimension of 300 x 360 pixels (1 x 1.2inches), a resolution of 300, JPEG file format and size not more than 400 kilobytes.

Please Note:

The University will not accept any application document DIRECTLY from Candidates. For this reason, all documents must be sent through Ghana post.

Thus, Candidates should note that the picture used in the admission process will appear on all subsequent files, documents and portals (Student identity cards) when admitted as a student of the University of Health and Allied Sciences.

Therefore, we advise prospective Candidates to take the necessary steps in uploading a good quality picture of the stated specifications.
