Ghanaian actress, film producer and entrepreneur Yvonne Nelson has called on the Ghanaian populace to be prudent and cautious in this coronavirus period because politicians do not give a hoot about their welfare.
Following the ongoing new-voter registration exercise across the country, Yvonne Nelson took to her official Twitter page this morning, urging all Ghanaians not to risk their health and safety for any politician.
The renowned actress told Ghanaians to use their common sense in order not endanger their lives and that of their families just because of the December elections. According to her, politicians do not care about anyone, because one moment , they are entreating all and sundry to stay home and stay safe, the next moment they are asking Ghanaian citizens to go out and register. She believes that all politicians care about is what would benefit them. She furthered by saying that the outcome of this year’s election would not make any difference in the lives of Ghanaians therefore they should not bother joining crowded queues to endanger their lives.
Her tweet got many people talking and obviously she was going to have some people support her whereas other against her view. Ibrahimmahama Ba for instance asked Yvonne if she would not register and vote for her “blossom friend” John Dumelo. Courage asked her to stop being a hypocrite as he thinks the elections could definitely change a whole lot of things. Togbe Fianu also believed Yvonne to be wrong. He said “ They said don’t go out if you don’t have anything needful doing outside and the voter ID is needful so we can go out and do it moreover we don’t do the voter ID purposefully for voting.”
Nonetheless, Yvonne Nelson had some people supporting her opinion.
