Major Program Elements

1. Professional Background

Young Professionals (YPs) are full-time workers who significantly contribute to the work programs of their individual units while also developing networks and knowledge within the Bank Group through the YPP. They frequently participate in field missions, working first-hand in WBG operations while learning important facets of our work and interacting with our clients.

2. Leadership Training

The WBG YPP curriculum equips YPs with the fundamental knowledge and leadership skills they need to contribute to our business. Workshops on leadership and professional development, networking, mentoring, and discussions with WBG leadership are just a few of the available activities.

3. Education on WBG Policies, Products, and Operations

The World Bank, IFC, and MIGA’s policies, goods, and activities are heavily covered in the extensive training that YPs get. With the help of this component of the WBG YPP curriculum, YPs are guaranteed to understand how to operationalize collaborative WBG solutions to development difficulties. As well as how to maintain and use this knowledge in the future.

4. Worldwide Rotations within WBG

With the aim of learning and applying skills across the business, YPs take part in at least one rotation at their home institution. With some also taking part in extra rotations at other institutions. Rotations are a crucial part of the curriculum because they give YPs experience in how our institutions function (and may cooperate). As well as how to match their abilities to priority areas like fragile, violent, and violently conflicted (FCV) countries and other difficult settings.

5. Mentoring & Coaching

Numerous departmental and peer mentors are appointed to YPs. Mentors can offer guidance on a variety of issues, from adjusting to Washington, DC, to seeing job chances during the YP experience and beyond.

6. Networking Activities

The WBG YPP office hosts numerous events for YPs to connect with alumni, stakeholders, and WBG staff, in addition to program orientation and graduation.

7 . Rotations and Job Placements

When transitioning to rotations and post-YPP work placements, YPs receive management-level support, ensuring that their skills are best utilized within the organization.

BENEFITS

A 5-year term contract with the WBG YPP includes a fair wage and benefits package. Benefits include health, life, and accident insurance as well as a pension plan and, in accordance with WBG norms, potential relocation and mobility benefits.
