About WAAW Foundation

Dr. Unoma Okorafor established the WAAW Foundation in 2007 while she was a PhD candidate out of a strong desire to see more women of African heritage flourish in terms of health, education, and motivation to contribute to their families and communities.

In order to encourage and educate African women in technology innovation as a lone African female voice, Unoma set out to develop long-lasting, sustainable methods.

According to the WAAW Foundation, the two most important factors in reducing poverty and fostering rapid development in Africa are female education and science and technology innovation. It is still largely unknown how difficult it is for African women to overcome stereotypes and significant social obstacles in frequently male-dominated areas, thus there needs to be a loud and caring voice. According to our theory, the family revolves around the woman, and the family in turn revolves around the family.
