TREE AID Ghana Calls For Job Applications
POSITION: Project Field Assistant – Daka River Trees Restoration Project
Operating under the guidelines of the TREE AID Programme Strategy, the River Trees Field Assistants will be tasked with the following responsibilities:
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
Assist and support communities with the project execution.
- Oversee TREE AID’s efforts in mobilizing communities for collective actions in the timely and budget-conscious execution of the project.
- Aids in multiple field activities, training sessions, data gathering, and analysis.
- Help communities develop Natural Resources Management (NRM) plans and support their execution.
- Coordinate or assemble communities into livelihood groups centered around Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs)
- Support the processes of defining project intervention areas
- Implement measures to enhance food, nutrition, and income security by employing effective strategies.
- Assist in establishing tree measurement methods/strategies that will contribute to the project’s success.
- Help and aid the Project Coordinator with the testing phase of innovative aspects of forest-related initiatives.
- Verifying the selection of tree species and keeping records and inventories of tree seedling production.
- Supporting community efforts for tree protection initiatives
- Assist communities in carrying out land use mapping
Project Assessment & Evaluation and reporting
- Assist your line manager in enhancing the consultations and participation of key stakeholders in the delivery, monitoring, and evaluation of project outcomes.
- Begin actions in project planning, assessment, and evaluations with communities.
- Ensure prompt preparation of reports on field activities.
- Make routine visits to the field to assist communities.
- Help document experiences and insights for broader sharing of these lessons throughout the landscape.
- Assist in utilizing M&E tools on-site to enhance the project
Alternative
- Get ready for and engage in routine one-on-one progress and planning discussions with the project Coordinator and additional Tree Aid personnel.
- As agreed with your line manager, represent TREE AID Ghana at meetings and workshops that are pertinent to TREE AID’s work when necessary.
- Inform the TREE AID Ghana office about any problems related to project delivery, safeguarding, fraud, and bribery.
- Help enhance our influence, resulting in new river tree restoration initiatives in Ghana.
- Assist in organizing training workshops for the program.
- Carry out any additional tasks assigned to you by your supervisor and other senior personnel.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
- Enhancing the visibility of TA’s River Trees Project(s) among external stakeholders.
- Meeting established job objectives.
- Prompt delivery of project field reports and any other requested information.
- Strong communication and relationships with all employees in Ghana, the UK, and West Africa, along with TREE AID partners and other connections.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Should possess an HND or degree in fields such as natural resource management, agricultural engineering, forestry, environmental science, agronomy, etc.
- Should possess a minimum of three (1) years of work experience in a comparable role
- Should align with the vision of TREE AID.
- Capability to engage with a diverse array of stakeholders
- Strong verbal communication and writing abilities.
- Capacity to juggle several opposing requirements.
- Should be proficient in computer skills – Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- Should be self-assured, diligent, capable of working under stress, and mindful of time.
- Capability to meet deadlines and fulfill targets, involving significant travel to various locations.
- Should possess practical knowledge in at least one of the local languages spoken in the northern region of Ghana, particularly Dagbani and Likpakpaln.
- Must possess extensive motorbike riding skills and a valid license
Location: Yendi, Gusheigu municipalities, and Mion District in the Northern Region
