About University of Toronto Scholarships

For exceptional international students, the University of Toronto’s Lester B. Pearson International Scholarships offer an unmatched chance to attend one of the top universities in the world and live in one of the most diverse cities in the world.

The goal of the scholarship program is to honor students who stand out for their outstanding academic performance, inventiveness, and leadership qualities within their school. Particular attention is given to how the kid has impacted their school and community, as well as how they may go on to positively impact the world community in the future.

These annual awards honor deserving students from all across the world, including foreigners enrolled in Canadian high schools. This is the most prestigious and competitive award that U of T offers to international students.

For four years, the Lester B. Pearson International Scholarships will pay for all living expenses, books, tuition, and incidentals. Only students who are in their first year of undergraduate study at the University of Toronto are eligible to receive the scholarship. About 37 students will get the title of Lester B. Pearson Scholar each year.

Acceptability

You need to be the following in order to be eligible to apply for the Pearson International Scholarship:

• an overseas student or a non-Canadian who needs study permission;
• Currently enrolled in your last year of secondary education, or have graduated by June 2023 at the latest
• enrolling at the University of Toronto in September 2024 (students who are currently enrolled in post-secondary education are not eligible to apply; students who enroll at another post-secondary institution in January 2024 are not eligible to apply).

How To Apply?

In September 2023, the competition for 2024 begins. To apply, you must:

• Get your school to nominate you. To be included in our program, high schools that haven’t been contacted or verified yet must fill out an application, which can be found here. Early September is when high schools that took part in the previous year’s program will get their nomination access.
• Apply to the University of Toronto (external link) so that you can start your studies there in September 2024, and make sure your application is submitted by the deadlines.  Please be aware that you will be considered for the Pearson Scholarship for the U of T program, which is your top preference.  You may apply to many programs and may be accepted into each one, but if you are awarded the Pearson Scholarship, it will only be applied to the program of your choice at U of T at the time our scholarship choices are announced.
• You can finish the online Lester B. Pearson Scholarship application once we’ve received a nomination and you’ve submitted an application to the university.  Once your school has successfully nominated you, you will receive a private connection to the scholarship application.

Deadlines for Pearson Scholarships

• Deadline to nominate a school: November 30, 2023
• Deadline to apply for student admission to OUAC: December 15, 2023 (Note that although you can apply until December 15, 2023, it is advised that you apply for admission through the OUAC as soon as feasible.) This is the last day to apply for the OUAC.
• It is advised to apply for admission before November 7, 2023, as popular programs may close early and spots in them fill up quickly.
• The deadline for student scholarship applications is January 15, 2024.
