Study In USA: New Mexico State University Scholarships 2024
Applications are open for interested students to apply for the 2024 New Mexico State University Scholarships. Applicants are encouraged to read thoroughly and follow the instructions below for a successful application.
About New Mexico State University Scholarships
The International Competitive Scholarship gives students who qualify a discount to pay in-state tuition instead of out-of-state tuition, which is about three times less expensive. The scholarship also gives students a $100 cash prize every fall and spring. To get the award, applicants must show their GPA and TOEFL/IELTS results.It can only be given to new F-1 students coming in to pursue a degree, and it can be renewed for a maximum of:
- Eight semesters in a row, or until graduation, whichever comes first for undergraduates;
- 2four quarters for master’s students;
- Eight quarters for PhD students; OR
- Transfer students’ eligibility is based on how many semesters they have completed at all of their former schools. For undergraduate and doctoral students, this is up to 8 semesters, and for master’s students, it’s up to 4 semesters or graduation, whichever comes first.
Concerning New Mexico State University
NMSU began as Las Cruces College in 1888. In 1889, the Territorial Legislature established the Agricultural College and Experiment Station, which is a land-grant institution. It opened for business on January 21, 1890.
The college was the first school in the Territory to offer degrees. Its first full academic year was called the New Mexico College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts.
The New Mexico territorial assembly gave the go-ahead in 1889 for an agricultural college and experiment station to be built in or near Las Cruces. Under the Morrill Act, the school was made the land-grant college for New Mexico. It was called the New Mexico College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts.
N.M.A. & M.A. and Las Cruces College merged, and the new school started on January 21, 1890. In the first term, there were 35 students in college-level and prep classes, along with six teachers. Before the right buildings could be put on the 220-acre campus three miles south of Las Cruces, classes were held in the old two-room house of Las Cruces College.
By 1960, the school had grown a lot, and the state law changed its name to New Mexico State University.
The campus of New Mexico State University is now 900 acres, and it has about 14,000 students from all 50 states.
NMSU is a Hispanic-serving institution that works with students and people from all over the state. It does this through its four campuses, a satellite learning center in Albuquerque, cooperative extension offices in all 33 of New Mexico’s counties, and 12 agriculture research and science centers. Plus, online learning programs give students the most freedom.

Safety on Campus
Environmental, Health, Safety, and Risk Management (EHS&RM) helps the campus community make sure that teachers, staff, students, and visitors are safe. EHS&RM explains the regulations set forth by the federal government, states, and cities regarding health and safety at work and in the environment. We help and guide NMSU’s operations and safety programs, promote good loss prevention, and give senior administration advice on the business side of environmental health and safety.
