The following conditions must be met in order for you to be qualified for a retirement visa in Panama:

A minimum of $1,000 in documented monthly income is required. This could be retirement from a private company, Social Security, or another government retirement fund (military, state, police, etc.).

How Do I Apply for a Retirement Visa for Panama?

You can apply for a Panama retirement visa at the Panama City Immigration Office if you match the requirements. Here is a detailed rundown of the application procedure:

  • Make a trip to Panama. You can arrive without a visa or with a tourist visa, and you can later modify your immigration status.
  • Assemble the checklist of documents. All necessary documentation must be enclosed; however, the Immigration Office will let you know if any more are required.
  • Complete the registration form for a retirement visa. An application for a retirement visa can be obtained from the Immigration Office. After that, affix it to the remaining documents.
  • Deliver the paperwork to Panama City’s Immigration Office. You must go pick up your visa in person once it has been issued.

How to Apply From Outside for a Panama Retirement Visa

You cannot apply for a Panama retirement visa through the consular offices in Panama if you are applying from overseas. Instead, you must do so through an immigration attorney in Panama.

  • A sworn declaration about your past experiences. In Panama, this is accomplished via a lawyer.
  • A certificate of bachelorhood verified by the Panamanian consulate (useful only if you’re unmarried).

Additionally, you must submit the following documents:

  • The marriage certificate is verified at the Panamanian consulate or with an apostille stamp.
  • A police record for the last five years, notarized and verified, for every dependent.
  • The Panamanian consulate authenticates the birth certificates of the children.
  • Copies of passports.
  • Four family members’ photos apiece.
  • A health certificate from a physician in Panama.
  • Sworn declaration regarding one’s past. (Needs to be done via legal counsel.)
  • The Panamanian consulate has notarized and authenticated the letter of responsibility.
