ROLE: Investment Ecosystem Development Manager

Since establishing Renew Capital’s presence in Africa in 2012, we have been at the forefront of an innovative blended-finance model that collaborates with the development community and focuses on investing in high-growth small and medium companies (SMEs). This blended-finance methodology enables us to invest in smaller transactions that are sometimes missed by larger investors yet are too large for microfinance.
We then assist these organizations in developing disciplined, gender-aware, and climate-aware management processes and teams, as well as growing them into market leaders. As a result of our previous investment activity, Renew Capital has mobilized millions of dollars into African firms and established a broad network of investors, the Renew Capital Angels.

We are looking for a committed and skilled applicant to join our team in Ghana as an Investment Ecosystem Development Manager. ROLE SUMMARY
This position will help to create Renew Capital’s footprint in Ghana by engaging key stakeholders, developing Renew Capital’s brand through engagement of development and investment ecosystem actors, and managing research and/or private sector consultancy projects. As needed, this person will also seek for investment opportunities to help us build our pipeline.
Successful candidates will have a solid background in project management, entrepreneurship, and/or investment work, and will be able to operate in a highly adaptable and fast-paced workplace. Furthermore, this profession necessitates emotional intelligence, patience, and strong communication skills.
Responsibilities:
Project Administration
- Supporting the consulting team in the implementation of private sector development projects by obtaining results and meeting all project deadlines rigorously.
- Training, mentoring, and/or supporting SMEs to assist in the development and facilitation of Renew Capital’s key gender-smart activities.
- Working with the project manager to assist in the preparation of project reports for customers that demonstrate Renew Capital’s social impact results in a compelling and visually appealing manner.
- Regular reporting to and collaboration with Renew Capital’s management team to continuously enhance SOPs and efficiency in project delivery.
- Assist with administrative and operational tasks in-country as needed.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Developing beneficial partnerships in their allocated national office with startups and SMEs, development groups, government agencies, and critical private sector partners.
- Renew Capital’s brand is being established by representing the company at various events and occasions, as well as educating stakeholders about our blended finance approach.
- Organizing learning events for key stakeholders.
- Creating recommendations and assisting in the establishment of revenue-generating activities in their allocated country office, resulting in a financially sustainable country office for the firm.
- Providing assistance to the business intelligence team in sourcing, researching, and/or contributing to proposals for consulting work in their assigned foreign office.
Sourcing and Managing Investments
- Sourcing potential firms for Renew Capital’s investment pipeline in their designated national office.
- Renew Capital’s client resource management system (Hubspot) is being used to process new leads.
- Executing the necessary due diligence, including financial and investment due diligence.
- Providing assistance with all elements of the transaction, including deal selection, negotiation, and execution.
- Introducing entrepreneurs and presenting possibilities to Renew Capital’s angel network through member calls and blogs.
Qualifications Preferred:
- A Bachelor’s degree in business administration or finance is preferred.
- 4 to 6 years of experience in the investing industry.
- A distinct blend of friendly and analytical qualities.
- Capability to meet project deadlines and achieve or surpass needed results when working with teams.
- Communication skills in English are required.
- Excel and PowerPoint skills are exceptional.
