Public Procurement Authority Invites Job Applications

A prominent organization seeks applications from competent and enthusiastic individuals to fill the following vacancies: Senior Legal Officer

Job Purpose

To give technical direction for the proper administration of the Authority’s legal problems.

Reporting Relationship

The Senior Legal Officer will report to the Director of Legal.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Prepares and evaluates legal and operational documentation as directed.
  • Provides input into the development and drafting of public procurement legislation and changes.
  • Conducts litigation on behalf of the Authority when ordered.
  • Coordinates the verification of standard form documentation for legal compliance as required.
  • Represents the Authority in Court, before any tribunal or investigative body, as directed.
  • Collects information on the Authority’s investigations into breaches of the Public Procurement Act.
  • Ensures that the administrative review process is managed effectively and efficiently, as specified.
  • Responds to concerns about the prosecution of breaches of procurement legislation as directed.
  • Facilitates the implementation of the Directorate’s performance management system.
  • Collects and collates information for the Directorate’s budget, annual report, and other periodic reports.
  • Examines applicable legislation and the regulatory environment and makes recommendations to improve decision-making.
  • Appraises subordinate employees in the Directorate.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A master’s degree in law, ideally in procurement law, administrative law, or public law, from a recognized tertiary school.
  • Must have been admitted to the Ghana Bar (barrister-at-law).
  • A minimum of four (4) years of post-call relevant job experience in a respected organization.
  • Must pass a competitive selection interview organized by the Public Procurement
  • Authority in partnership with the Public Services Commission.

  • Strong understanding and experience with public procurement processes, methods, and legislation.
  • Knowledge of financial regulations.
  • Proficiency with essential computer software.

Location: Accra.
